Well, I will say my mood has skyrocketed since I parted ways with my colon, lol. It stands to reason that having any body part chronically inflamed creates anxiety, as it did in the poor lab mice and rats. Still, interresting research, I agree.
This also makes sense. The cytokine hypothesis of depression essentially states that depression = inflammation, oxidative & nitrosative stress . From my own n=1 experience this is true, but there are studies backing it up for many patients. Those with chronically inflamed body parts would probably see mood improvements with the subsequent removal of the offending part.
But still... I question it since a large majority of serotonin receptors are seated in the gut. Body has the wonderful capacity to adapt and my guess is that it has something to do with the bacteria proliferating to the small intestine and simulating the same process that occurs in the colon.
