Yesterday, out of nowhere my body started aching horribly. I had the chills and a terrible headache. Even my fingertips went numb. I had to go home from work and take a steaming shower to stop from shaking. This lasted about
2 hours. After it subsided, my legs were just sore but not as achy as they were earlier. Last night I woke up with my pillow soaking wet from sweat. Today, I have a slight headache, but that's it. I feel fine otherwise. This has happened to me once before since I was diagnosed with UC. The last time it came out of nowhere, but it only lasted about
30 minutes.
Has anyone experienced this before or have any idea what is going on?
Thanks!

I've had this before and I'm not sure if it is linked to our UC or not but I do know low-grade fevers are common amongst us and might explain all of that.

My first thought was a flu bug. I've had that happen after surgeries where I had anesthesia. But with this disease, sometimes you never know for sure!

It feels just like the flu. It just doesn't last very long, thankfully. Is there a such thing as a fleeting flu? If not, there is now!

It can be a cold. I was told when you have the flu, you vomit. :)

I'm on Humira. I had a sig line, but it's not showing up anymore. Humira, Lialda, and mesalalamine enemas. I honestly don't think the Lialda does squat. I'm up to 4 a day and have never felt a difference from it. The enemas do help.
The only reason it doesn't seem like cold or flu is that it literally comes out of nowhere. It's not like when you normally feel it coming on and progressively feel worse. It's feeling fine one second and then, boom, you're completely wiped out.

Are you eating enough? sometimes lack of food and even dehydration can give you a funny turn, especially when you think of all the meds we have to take.

When was your last Humira Injection? If it was recent it definitely could have been that. Do you premedicate with benydryl and tylenol?

I have been eating enough before yesterday. I haven't had an appetite since, even though everything else feels better. I generally drink way more water than necessary on a regular day (even before I got sick). But, this week I just haven't been drinking much. Maybe 20 oz a day compared to at least 80 oz. I could definitely feel and see signs of dehydration yesterday, but I'm back to drinking plenty today.
Gary- I had a shot of Humira Friday night. I was wondering about
that, but I think last time this happened was before I started Humira. I've never heard of premedicating with Benadryl and Tylenol???

It probably wasn't the Humira then. Many times with biologics it's good to take both benydryl and tylenol before the infusion/injection but if you've done it several times with no problems then most times you probably don't need it. Every batch of stuff is a little different though and there is always a chance you could suffer a reaction if you hadn't premedicated.
