Hey that's awesome Markb!
Sorry I haven't posted on here in while. Just to clear up a few things:
1) My GI did my bloodwork weekly for a few months, but now we are just monthly. The only reason was because I was on Imuran and there was uncertainty on how things might go with the two together and liver counts etc . There seems to be no issue with myself.
2) My GI was quite surprised on how well I am doing. I was going to try dropping the Imuran, but have not so far. He left it up to me, but would rather I stay on Imuran as well. He decided to keep the monthly blood work going even if I stop Imuran just out of curiosity mainly.
3) I have been consistent - so about
8 drops 3x daily for going on say 6 months and so far have not had any issue.
4) I take a solid tablespoon of Bob's Redmill Potato starch each morning and sometimes at night as well. During the day I don't take any probiotics, but at night before going to sleep I take L. rheuteri (biogia brand) so about
8 drops in water. I was taking Renew Life 100 Billion, but switched to 80 Billion to try out just cause of the slight difference in bacteria. I do very well on both of these and am consistent. I also take my probiotics with a glass of Kefir Milk (store bought) and usually Greek (Balkan Style yogurt) when I remember.
So the combo of Imuran, WOO/Thyme and Probiotics has me doing quite well.
Not every day is awesome, but bad days mean an extra trip or so to the washroom, or maybe a single episode of "D" then normal stool again. I should also point out that I very rarely have "D" anymore. Like maybe once or twice a month and it just lasts for one trip to the bathroom.
What's interesting is for the first time in 12 years I'm just now (over the past 3 weeks) starting to see the first one a day kinda days, which is pretty cool. Just the other day I awoke, had a poo and and then took off for the entire day and evening and never pooped or had the urge till the next morning. Crazy. But days like that seem to be about
once per week at the moment. Most of the time I am twice per day.
I still tend to eat very healthy. SCD like, but with oatmeal now everyday and the occasional restaurant hamburg haha...
I'd say maybe for those trying this and not seeing success, maybe stick with it for a month or so before calling it quits.
Oh - and I have Crohn's-Colitis so maybe for me I need both Iumarn and this to stay in remission. Who knows. The only reason I have not tried dropping the Imuran yet is that my sisters wedding is in the first part of July and I'd love to feel normal for it.
Also I do have the odd day where things don't feel quite right yet, but they are few and far between. As mentioned I'd say I'm 95-99% symptom free all the time and 100% symptom free the odd day.
