Lialda...um, constapation?

So, been on Lialda for about a month now, and thank God, my BM's are getting normal.  Thing is, I have noticed that both of my knees hurt and it is tough climbing up the stairs, not bad pain but just enough to make one go slower!  LOL   Never had this pain before and then I am getting very bloated and feel I get constapated.    Yes, the COMPLETE oppostite of what we go through as UC'rs. 

Doc. told me when he put me on Lialda (4 pills a day) that there are no side effects.  What pill doesn't have a side effect????!!  Come on.  LOL  Anyway, you experience any of these syptoms?

And your symptoms are also part of having UC. I have joint pain in my knees all the time now and some people including me can have the opposite end of the spectrum and get constipated.

If you're not on rectal meds, the Lialda will be dealing with symptoms down to the sigmoid, not the rectal inflammation. That's part of the healing process (and if you pay attention after you're in remission, that will be one of the first symptoms for many to mark the start of flaring)

Where exactly is the extent of your UC?

Please contact your doc and ask for rectal meds. I'd suggest to start with mesalamine retention enemas.

Regarding your aches and pains...that's probably part of your flare related extraintestinal issues.

Please have your vitamin D checked, for a low count could cause those issues as well.
