you are going to be amazed how much better you will feel once your diseased colon is gone. We get so used to just living that way that we forget what it feels like to be well again.
So can you tell me why I don't feel so much better without my colon? I'd like to know why these promises haven't come true for me.
Thanks in advance, would love to know. My doctor sure doesn't!
@Katie - Best of luck. Chances are, you
will feel much better after surgery and be glad you did it, but because I'm not a psychic and can't read the future, I'm not going to make any promises. For now I think you are probably doing the right thing and support your decision, but I for one can't wait until the day this crappy chopping out of colons is no longer necessary.NCOT-The vast majority of colectomy patients are satisfied with the results. I've read the satisfaction rate is 92% which is pretty darn good. I feel terrible that you are among the 8% that is not satisfied. Obviously it's not what you were expecting or hoping for. I honestly don't remember your issues with the j-pouch but you do have Chrons which means your disease can be active in other parts of the digestive tract so colectomy is not "the cure" like it is for UC. Have you visited other surgeons to see if anything can be done?
