Lexapro, ambien cr and UC

Hi! It's been a while since I posted. I'm a 10 year UC veteran! I am curious as to how many people have been on similar drugs for long term....I have been on them for about a year and a half...I went through some bad anxiety with my last flare... I sought out conselling at a place in pittsburgh that deals-with only helping Chrohn's and colitis patients cope with the disease and anxiety (or depression, etc) that comes with it.

Well I found great help through them....I hadn't been able to sleep in years and would have anxiety up and down through the years. The dr put me on lexapro and ambien cr..what a life saver! But my concern is being on these drugs long term....I can't sleep with out the ambien. I have noticed I have less stress induced IBS...I really noticed a great change in that aspect as I had frequent bouts. My flares seem to be once a year regardless, but not as bad with being on humira. By the way the klonopin is for my humira shot day.....I get head spins really bad and it takes it away. Or if I'm on prednisone on a flare I take it to help with the side effects of pred.

I'm not one to want to take a pill so to speak, but my dr did explain to me that it's ok being on these drugs when dealing with a chronic illness...he would like to see me wean off the sleeping pills, but it would not be unusual to be on lexapro for a few years...I just don't like being on more drugs than I have to be, but I do not want to go through the anxiety I once did!

Love to hear Any feed back with similar experience or even being on these drugs more long term than i am.

Thanks and I agree with you about the sleep aid......I heard you can go through withdrawals going off of them....which I'm not sure what that would be other than going through some bad nights trying to sleep.

The past year and a half....It's just been nice to be able to sleep and not have many IBS, stress issues and I went through my last flare not as stressed and full of anxiety.

 I've been on Lexapro for over 9 yrs at 20 mgs a day. I up it to 30 if I having an extra hard time. I've never had any issues with uc/Lexapro.

 I'm glad I was put on it. it saved me.
