Any advice for hydrocortisone enema?

Hello, I'm starting hydrocortisone enemas twice a day for 10 days to help with my proctits, tonight will be my first ever. Any tips or advice? I'm pretty nervous.

Also make sure you squeeze all the air out of it before you use it. No sense in adding it into your body! And when you are pretty much done squeezing it out, try to pull it out while getting the last bit out of the bottle to cover your entire rectum. That last little bit often misses out on the meds.
Glad the first attempt was a success. I never had trouble retaining them myself.

Yes, there can be. Generally not anything as severe as prednisone, but you may get "moon face" or a few others. I got some moon face from the hydrocort enemas... The enemas aren't something you want to stay on long like any steroid. They tend to put out the fire fast, but it may return under the medication, or after you quit. Ideally, you'd be doing other things (5asa's, dietary restrictions, possibly supplements, probiotics, etc) simultaneously, and hope the inflammation stays quelled. The fact that you are retaining them is really good news- if your colon/rectum were in really bad shape, Id expect they would be more difficult to retain, and the longer retention time will help it work better, usually.
