All I can glean from google is that prednisone is converted to prednisolone in the liver, and in patients with liver problems, prednisolone is preferred. Also, prednisone is a corticosteroid and prednisolone is a steroid, not sure what the difference is. Can't really figure out why prednisone is preferred, other than one site saying it's just been around longer. Prednisone is used more often in Canada too.
