Hi, I recently switched from sulfasazaline to asacol. It's only been a few days so I haven't noticed much of a change (I am in a flare), but I have noticed a trend. It seems that the D, blood & mucus is mainly just like the first third of my day. Typically if I wake up around 9am, it will be rough till about 2, and then I'll be ok (urgency not as much, blood still there a little, still no solid BM). Any reason this could be? It's been really hard lately trying to work because of this. I'm still new to all of this so it's been a lot to handle. Any help is appreciated, thanks!

That's when your digestive system is most active in the morning and do you stress about work? I have been taking asacol never sulfazine however predisinole a steroid is a stronger drug

That is basically how UC works. The worse it is the more of the day you spend on the toilet. It takes a long time for me to get to the point were I don't have to get up 3 hours before leaving the house. When I can go for an hour after waking before needing to BM then I know I am in remission.

Most people have bms in the morning. Add UC and it's most active once one wakes up when flaring.

You need to also be on rectal meds....Start with mesalamine retention enemas, and don't wait!!!

Yeah, 99% of UC'rs have more trouble in the morning.

That happens to all of us, just about, we have horrible mornings. Even if I have a bad day, the morning is still the worst. I think the way I was able to cope with working was to eat dinner right when I got home from work and eat nothing afterwards. This way it would be easier to empty my system in the morning. It's not fun and it's no way to live ongoing but it could be something to help you get though this rough patch.
