My GI doctor told me to research Remicade and Cimzig?(his writing is terrible so I am unsure of spelling)
He told me both ulcerative colitis and psoriasis can be treated with these options... But worried about the side effects! I have not tried either of these drugs.
Just got back into remission with a combo of Uceris, Apriso, and mesalamine enemas. god I was sick!Now I am just on 4 Apriso a day, along with a probiotic and folic acid
Has anyone any suggestions for either of these drugs, how long you have taken them, and the side effects of course!
My immune system sucks!

Probably means Cimzia, a biologic drug. Sorry I don't know much about when it is best used. Many of the drugs for UC are first used by RA people or psoriasis patients. Remicade is used by many, and is an effective UC treatment. If you are in remission on 4 Apriso you might be getting ahead of yourself. Rectal meds may help too. There are many good threads on the pros and cons of both of those drugs on this site. Happy reading.

I sure don't want to borrow trouble but
I am now getting terrible joint pain as well. If a person has the misfortune of having both these chronic conditions I do suppose the odds are not in my favor that I will escape arthritis. One more specialist to add to my ever growing medical list

I have psoriasis and uc too. I think most of the biologics that treat uc also treat psoriasis. I think imuran/6mp would also work, and is usually attempted before Remicade? Ive never heard of Cimzia so cant comment on that one.

Psoriasis is really bad around my ankles but since I am in some type of remission with UC, I might just work with topicals for psoriasis to give my body a rest from meds while I'm still lucky enough to be able to!

The only thing my skin responds to is uvb phototherapy, but that causes cancer so... Ya, may just want to try topical. Psoriasis in an internal thing too, related to the gut, some people find dietary changes helpful. There is something called the Pagano diet that helps many people.

I just came off of UCERIS last month. my psorisis was completely gone while I was on the Uceris and reappeared within a week of my stopping

I would definitely try topical before starting on a biologic. I also have psoriasis. When I was on 6mp my psoriasis disappeared, it was along my hairline. But after I went on Remicade, I stopped the 6mp my psoriasis came back; milder tho. If you read the fine print on Remicade, even tho it is used to treat many AI conditions including psoriasis, it can actually trigger psoriasis to reappear. Ironic eh?

So glad my very dormant psoriasis did not flare while I tried Remicade for my UC. I was worried!

As for you... love that you got your UC flare under control!
def wouldn't wanna mess with that - and the "ain't broke, dont fix" idea.

Topical for the ankle issues sounds like a great idea for now. And as your UC continues to improve... you may see an improvement in the ankles too!
