No matter how little sugar I ate, I never lost the taste for it. It also made absolutely no difference to my Crohn's.
So post-surgery I eat what I feel like, when I feel like, and I don't give a ****. I don't care how many preservatives it has; in fact I buy American candy which has colourings which were probably banned by the EU 20 years ago - brilliant blue, sunset red, neon green radioactive waste, etc.
I virtually never binge. 'Cos I don't deny myself any particular foods, I can just have a chocolate bar or a few sweets and not crave any more after that. The cravings used to be quite bad with me, but they're not any more.
Hey NCOT -
There was a time last year when all I ate were
these cookies. I am talking boxes after boxes of these - an amount that would make a normal person vomit.
Surprisingly, no bowel problems. It was almost entirely psychological for me. It was like my body was telling me it needed not just the calories, but the sugar as well to ease the pain (this was during a rough patch where I wasn't certain about
my future). Prior to that I was trying to eat healthy, but some part of me just said F it and wanted some god darn
cookies. Paradoxically, my body was better off eating the junk food.
I guess the moral is you gotta eat what you gotta eat, and the body does not lie. I was wrong before and there are times when the body desperately needs sugar.
Best wishes.
