Good GI in Manhattan / NYC?

Can anyone recommend a GI with strong UC experience? Preferably one who can administer biologics / entyvio.

I did a forum search but didn't find any helpful recent threads (most were 4+ years old). Thanks.

Many of us go to the IBD Center at Weill Cornell. I've seen most of the doctors in the practice and they were all great. I used to receive Remicade infusions there (in the office, they don't use an infusion center) and I'm almost positive they are administering Entyvio now as well.

Pluot and I both go to Weill Cornell @ NYP Cornell, the GIs there are all very experienced with UC. We both had our surgeries at NYP Cornell; so the GIs there see it all.

The other place to go is Mt Sinai and any GI there should be just as knowledgeable with UC. I use to go to Mt Sinai before my GI moved over to NYP Cornell. Things may have changed but when I would go to Mt Sinai many of the GIs there did not take insurance; I do not have that issue at NYP Cornell.

Sorry I forgot to mention that I see Dr. Steinlauf at Weill Cornell; I've been going to him for the past 9 years. He's been great to me, he always takes the time to answer all of my questions and goes above and beyond what I expect out of a doctor. You can do a search for his name on HW, other members have used him too.

Thanks all! A little bit farther away than I was hoping (I live in Greenwich Village) but I'll give these guys a try since they come so highly recommended.

Liz, cool blog btw. IC what you did there. Must be very helpful for anyone going through the surgery process.

As a fellow 28 year old living in Greenwich Village, I can tell you from experience the commute is well, well worth it. I wasted my time (health and sanity) at a few other GIs closer by, only to finally find some remission with the team at Weill Cornell. They don't mess around, and seem to actually care.

I also followed my longtime IBD gastroenterologist from Mt. Sinai-affiliated practice to Weill Cornell-- Jill Roberts IBD Center. You can check the Center's FB page for info on a new patient office they are supposed to open at Williams Street in lower Manhattan. It's not that convenient commuting to Cornell in the crazy crosstown traffic, but that's where you'll find excellent IBD gastros, led by Dr. Ellen Scherl, who is one of the top IBD subspecialists in the U.S. today. / Old Hat (33 yrs with left-sided UC; presently in remission taking brandname Colazal)

Guys thanks again for the advice and Old Hat for the Williams Street tip. They actually opened that office in December and Dr. Steinlauf has some office hours there though I was able to get an appointment at the York street location a week earlier than Williams so I took that for now. Seeing Dr. Steinlauf on the 17th and looking forward to it.

Jackson Call - I moved to the area a few months back, would be cool meeting someone new and chat about our experiences. Let me know if you'd like to grab a bite or a drink around here sometime. If anyone else is in the area, welcome to join too!

I used to see Dr. James Marion out of mt. Sinai in Manhattan. Very smart doctor. Unless things have changed, he did not take insurance at the time I was going to him.

Go to NYU Langone Medical Center. Everyone working there (including all GIs) are extremely competent and friendly.
