Treating hemorrhoids while with proctitis

Sigh. No sooner do I get things 'normal' after treating my fissure then I get what appears to be a hemorrhoid. I am looking for some perspective from anyone who has had a similar experience.

Colitis flare in January lead to fissure which was treated successfully with nitro cream and high fibre diet for 6 weeks. Everything was good. Started to taper off mesalamine enemas from nightly to every other night last week and then had a tougher harder bowel movement than usual (despite all the fibre I am still taking) leading to what feels like a hemorrhoid. I'll have to go see doc this week for more info.

It feels like I am doomed to have these things reoccur as they seem to with seemingly little provocation. Has anyone here with proctitis had any treatments for hemorrhoids beyond the non invasive? It would seem to be overly complicated by the proctitis which would make things much worse instead of better with treatment.

I don't have proctitis but, I do have a hemmie that acts up and my doctor treats its with with hydrocortisone suppositories 2xday. Takes about 5 days to clear it up. I wasn't sure what you meant by non-invasive?

If your Dr confirms a Hemmi ask him about the hydrocortisone supp UgU mentioned. I might also ask for a stool softener. using enemas can cause hemmi's to act up...

I have the problem with a fissure that never seems to heal. I get so sore that sometimes I have to spend most of the day in a reclining position and this goes on for days or weeks. Finally, it seems to heal and I'm okay, although there's always bleeding. Then I have a couple of hard BMs and I'm right back to the pain again. I take Asacol for the UC and use suppositories but there seems to be no solution for this other pain in the butt! If I have hemmies, I'm not aware of them because they probably are internal and those cause no pain, just bleeding. It's pretty depressing and I'm beginning to have a lot of anxiety about this illness, which is running my life.

Mesalamine suppositories and enemas can help reduce inflammation from hemmies as well as uc. Make sure the enema tip is extra well lubricated and before you finish using it be sure to get the med on the hemmie area as you withdrawl the enema, I'd keep a towel under you to prevent stains. The canasa suppositories will work even better than enemas as they ooze the med into the hemmie area. I use prep h ointment to lube the enema tip or supp's and also take sitz warm baths with Epsom salts for both hemmies and fissures. I also take 100 mg of colace 2xs per day to keep the stool soft. I think the harder than normal stool says you still have some lower rectal inflammation. I would stay on the enemas at least for another 2 weeks and treat the hemmie with external creams...plus use a hemmie supp during the day. My med of choice is proctocedyl, topical(external ointment) and suppostiory.

Are you keeping up with the fibre?

You should also consider to use probiotics....

I've been where you are, but my fissure hasn't been to the point where I needed to go to the doc...but I've had the external hemmie and fissure be so painful that a flare came afterward...ugh.

It's a vicious cycle, and one's butt has a memory like a steel trap.

Hang tough....the ONLY thing you can do is treat what ails in any given moment...as well as continue prevention.

I had piles for over 30 years (I am 59) - I had lost hope to ever cure them. By accident I ran into the method of Holly Hayden , an independent researcher. I am now free of hemorrhoids - I never expected this to be possible

I have proctitis which I believe I got from a course of doxycycline. I am currently on Canasa. Been taking it over 2 months. I tried to go every other night the past week. Now a hemmie has acted up. I guess I will be using it nightly again. The only thing that helps relieve the itch and irritation of a hemmie that I have found that is not a prescription is Neo Healer that I buy online. Nothing over the counter in the drug store ever helped, but this takes away the annoyance. It doesn't get rid of it but makes it bearable.

Diagnosed with UC in June. Currently taking Canasa, probiotics, and Turmeric supplements. Have gone gluten free the past two months and will continue on that path.

I have used 2 products that the rectosurgeon recommended..recticare is an ointment that has lidocaine in it and helps eases the pain, the 2nd is sensicare an ointment that you apply that helps prevent irritation. Both can be purchased online at Amazon. I too have used sitz baths and use a stool softener.
