Like AZYooper, I was interested in finding out about my genetic predisposition for Alzheimer's and Parkinson's when I ordered the 23andMe kit. I too got my results before they stopped informing about health aspects. They did find one UC-related gene mutation. Here's the codes and blurb so you can have something search with:
"HLA-DRAMarker: rs2395185 - GG
The HLA (Human Leukocyte Antigen) region is a stretch of DNA that contains many genes involved in the immune system's recognition of invaders. Different versions of these HLA genes help determine what kinds of proteins immune cells treat as foreign invaders.
Variants in the HLA region have been associated with several diseases caused by abnormal immune system reactions, including type 1 diabetes, rheumatoid arthritis and psoriasis. Collectively these disorders are known as autoimmune diseases. Although it is not yet known for sure, researchers have suggested that ulcerative colitis is also an autoimmune disease."
But, to be sure, no genetic result signifies 100% of anything (except maybe Huntingon's) so just treat this as something that can make your reading more interesting and personal.
BTW, my 'cluster' of risky mutations was: celiac disease, hypothyroidism, melanoma, UC. Uh, yes you guessed it - I have Northern European ancestory.
