Hi I've just been recently diagnosed with peptic ulcers and I've been given a 1 month course of Lansoprazole, I was just wondering, can this medication have any adverse effects on UC or any UC-related medication?

Is that Prevacid generic? A PPI? I have ulcers on and off and GERD (longer than I have had UC). I take Dexilant and Zantac. Those have had no adverse affects on the UC.

Yes, I think it's the generic version of Prevacid, it's a PPI, doctor who normally deals with my UC prescribed it so it should be fine, but I was just double checking to be extra sure, because I seen on the internet that the PPI's can effect delayed tablets like asacol because it makes your small intestine alkaline and makes the tablets release the medication too soon

The other thing to watch out for is that being on PPIs can make you more susceptible to c diff it would seem - studies I've read say over 3 months is danger period so if you get a flare with a really bad smell to the stools while on them, get tested for it asap.
