Driving checkpoints

I've seen a few port-o-potty's on the highway that I drive sometimes but the best solution I came up with was buying a minivan (bought a ford windstar) and took the very back bench seats out (the seats that are right behind the drivers seat are bucket seats so it makes for an easy path to get from the front of the van to the back--no having to climb over seats) anyways, then I put a camping port-o-potty in place of the very back bench seat in the van which gave me lots of room to walk crouched over of course, to the back of the van while hubby was driving or if I'm driving then I could pull into a parking lot and use my potty...very convenient and that's how I was able to get over my anxiety about leaving my house...there was a time I didn't leave my house for 3 yrs cuz I was so sick, that's when the "potty-van" came into play.

Isn't is so sad that IBD has to make us dig down so deep to find creative ways to try and manage our lives...it's so hard to hide from the world the nasty disease that it is when you're having an episode...I always hate having to use public washrooms but it's better than crapping your pants.

I believe you, that's why I'm glad where I live there's always a big enough space on the side of the road to pull over on, like on the highway (different from a freeway) we have 2 major freeways in the city I live near (we live in a small town, if you can call 17,000 people small, which some do I guess) but when I'm on either of those freeways, they have sufficient room outside of the lane to pull over as well...I always avoided driving those freeways when I'm by myself because the speed on them is much higher than usual roads and I'm always worried that if I pulled over that some dummy would hit me even though there's enough room not to be hit but if hubby's driving then it's no issue.

For real you guys!! I hate flaring. Lately I'm going 10-15x a day it is freaking exhausting. And driving to work is really scary :(. I have to drive 45 min. Most is freeway. Then even work is scary right now I many times have to leave my client for a mjn to go to bathroom. (I'm a hairstylist)

I think this disease is brutally disgusting with how it impairs and impacts our lives to the high degree that it does...after as long as I've been flaring (this is my first ever remission in almost 25 yrs since getting sick with it) I'd be more surprised if it didn't turn me into the depressed lunatic that it has....not only does it beat you up physically, it will tear you apart mentally/emotionally too...I hate this disease and what it does to us, no one deserves this kind of life long misery...a CURE is what we all need, not another treatment that no one knows how long it will last for...IBD is very inhumane.

Everybody poops, but no one should have to as much as we do though...I even have a skin tag separate from the perianal crohn's skin tags from wiping so much with toilet paper over so many years...pitiful disease, just pitiful!!!!!!

Pb you have had it that long? Omg I can't even imagine. I feel like I'm gonna get my colon out within a year or so sometimes. Cuz I can't take it!! Sometimes I think screw it, just get rid of it!!! The worst is trying to act normal with it. And awkwardness with others not understanding. My mom always asks about my diet and if I'm sticking to it and I'm like ok I do not want to talk about it lol. It's not that easy. No I am not sticking to it. And I poop a shiz ton either way!!!! yeah honestly ibd is the worst. I absolutely can't stand how it ruins your life. And I hate having the pressure of finding a bathroom 24/7. Just about ready to get this thing taken out!!!!

Ya, crazy long time eh, and it's changed my personality and perspective a lot over the years...I thought it was bad enough getting DX with a crapty disease like crohns and the fact that it's chronic but to flare for that long sucks, then again, going back and forth flaring to remission doesn't sound very fun either really...no matter how IBD behaves it's super stressful and cruel.

For me, even if I got my colon removed, it wouldn't cure me of my crohn's, I'd still have small intestines for it to attack, not to mention any other part of my GI tract left behind...with CD it's from gums to bums that it tortures whenever it feels like it...my CD is probably so pissed off that the Humira healed it up so it let IBS take over just to keep the torture going.

Trust me Chrissysoul, you are NOT ALONE when it comes to this nasty IBD.

I always think about where I am going to stop if I have the urge. I live in a city so there are tons of places but sometimes you get stuck on a road where there is traffic or you don't see a good place you could go and it's very nerve wracking. I usually go for mcdonalds or gas stations. I also have the problem at work, the bathroom is very far from my desk. I hate these bathroom worries and the annoying part is that the worry is warranted.

i just carry toilet paper and go wherever... i don't care anymore
