Hi everyone and thank you for all the information Ive been absorbing since finding this forum.
Make my managing my UC easier by knowing from fellow UC sufferers also.

I was diag. with UC in 2007. I pretty much have it under control except for the pain. I have pain always after my first BM in the morning. For a while I was able to control it, but it just keeps getting worst and lasting longer, now. I had a colonoscopy two days ago and everything is the same except for now I have hemorroid in my colon also. Doctor prescribed me Perrigo enema once daily for the pain.

Would this new medication help my pain any?
Also what do you do for the pain?

Jesus, sorry to hear about your pain. You didn't specify, but is the pain localized or more like a painful cramping? If related to cramping, you might try an anti-spasmodic like Dicyclomine. I take it with moderate results from painful cramping. If the pain is specific to the internal hemorrhoid, I'm not sure on options. Also, my 12 yr old son is Type I, & can imagine your dietary needs are tough. Auto-immune disorders aren't picky & hate to hear you have 2.

Yeah, you can't give too many details here. We have all had so many different types of pain it's hard to know which type you may be talking about?

Oh ok the pain. My doctor told me this morning that while having my BM that I am putting pressure on my sciatic nerve which causes the pain to generate throughout my body. So, I take it that the enemas aren't for that particular pain.

the enemas are for rectal inflammation. Do you have active inflammation in the rectum? Mesalamine enemas should work great for that.

If you are having sciatica from moving your bowels, have you tried changing the position for your visits to the toilet? There are some people here who swear that squatting to defecate has helped them a ton. It isn't possible to squat on a US toilet, but if you bring a small step stool into the bathroom and put your feet up on it while you are sitting on the toilet that gets you pretty close to a squat.

Sciatic nerve generally only going to give you dull/achey/maybe sharp pain in that particular buttock/sacroiliac joint and leg. Not going to generate pain throughout your body. That would definitely not hold up in a court of law, lol.

I don't know that I have that same type of pain, but I use a long tube sock full of uncooked rice that I heat up in the microwave until it's hot to the touch. The moist heat it generates is heaven for me. I can lay on it or wrap it around the area giving me trouble.

if the pressure on the nerve is secondary to inflammation, then treating the inflammation could be a way to get out of you nerve-pain problem.

but it is not a pain med. and I am not sure pain from pressure on nerve situation really responds to pain meds.

you might try slippery elm as a tea. It could help pass stool with less pressure.
