mouths ulcers & UC?

Every time I see my specialist, he always checks for mouth ulcers but ice never had any.
this morning I discovered that I have one on the inside of my lip!
can anybody tell me what it means and how it's related to UC?

I think anyone can get them here and there. I used to get them a lot when I was younger, and now I do, but rarely. My GI has never checked for them.

Some people with IBD get sores in their mouth and nose, too.
I thought they were cold sores, but they're not.

The worse the inside inflammation, the more sores I get.

People get mouth ulcers all the time even if they don't have IBD. So while you may developed them as a result of the disease, it is quite a common occurrence across the entire population.

I started getting them when I got braces when I was 12, but didn't develop UC until I was 38. That being said, I got the worst sore in my mouth right around when I started my first flare, so I see the correlation. I have only had a couple of tiny ones in the past year and a half and they came and went quickly no where near any UC symptoms.

They're called apthous ulcers and are a side effect of people with UC, no idea why...just is what it is. Supposedly happens more with people with UC, but people without it get it too, so how you know it is beyond me....but it's listed as a side effect of UC.
