Accidents stealing all my undies :(

I've been having major accidents everyday, and now starting to have through out my undies Cuz it keeps happening at the store etc. I hate uc!

That sucks, sorry! *hugs* If it's an everyday occurrence maybe it's time for the adult diaper pad things?

Bummer. I went through a few pajamas and undies while flaring. I agree with malaika, it may be time to look into diapers/pads. This disease can be a bit undignified at times :(

What about a period pad instead? Those cost less and are different sizes

I used to have to wear Depends when I went out. Such a lovely disease.

For sure I many times wear like overnight pads. I have to wear them every freaking day!!! They're so uncomfortable :( and the lady 2 times I have shat myself in public, I have been talking asking where the bathroom is and literally crapping my pants while asking them

I have worn them too:( they do offer more protection. Make sure to also keep wipes handy. Hopefully your symptoms can get under control soon!

My husband bought me Depends.
And I cried and cried and cried.
He said they are magic underpants. If I wear them I can go anywhere. They made all the difference. I haven't had an accident in them, close, though.
But I wasn't afraid to drive to the beach, twice now.
I played golf. I only had enough energy for every other hole. But it was great to be out. Even if all I did was ride in the cart!

If I am going to be in a quiet environment I am selfconscious about the sound. I have a silk skirt that makes a similar sound, so I wear it with them. It's kinda full and pleated and they aren't obvious at all.
I have a clean up kit I carry, extra Depends, panties, wipes, etc.
Pads would not have been enough for sure.

It is a humiliating disease, but I am lucky to have this man in my life.

BEEN THERE..... all too often. Use depends.. not as bulky as over night pads and fit more comfortably... I put them under regular underwear.

I bought Tena ultra absorbency unisex "underwear" under the advice of a post I read here. The fit was good and I could put them on under a pair of jeans and they weren't noticeable. They also did not make any kind of noise, big plus!

I've lost a few pairs recently. The latest was the time my Canasa splattered out into my undies while I was passing gas. I had to get rid of that pair, luckily they were probably ready for the trash regardless. I got lucky that night because I was at home and because the underwear were junky...Passing wind while using rectals is always a risk. I agree that you should try some kind of protector until you have more control. What's the plan for treating? I've been seeing commercials for always undies, I wonder if those are less bulky. I haven't tried depends, just long pads when I am feeling like I have no control. Lately I am not going often but I have no notice

Currently I am on imuran but I honestly don't know what I'm gonna do. I'm guessing Im gonna end up switching to remicade and pray that works

Not Happy Yet has given you terrific advice! Definitely try Depends or other disposable underwear because so-called sanitary napkins are NOT big enough to catch a lot of crap that can burst out when a UCer has major urgency. The best Depends I ever found were made like athletic breakaway pants; in case of accident you could easily tear each side open so as to remove it like a pad. The disposables really help when one needs to go shopping or otherwise spend time in a less familiar place where restrooms may be distant or busy. / Old Hat (34 yrs with left-sided UC; presently in remission taking brandname Colazal)

Can anyone recommend a specific brand and style? Depends makes quite a few different products, many of which appear to me to be geared more toward urinary incontinence. I bought the style that Old Hat describes (Depends Adjustable Underwear, Super Plus Absorbency) a couple weeks ago, and I find them to be big and baggy (visible under my pants), noisy, and uncomfortable to sit in.

Go for the remicade, there is no reason to suffer as you are, sounds awful. Remi did wonders for me, I'm currently in a symptomatic remission. Prior I had accidents every week or two.

I used depends for jury duty. They are not very comfortable but they do provide the extra security if you have an accident. I'd try that for the times you are not near a bathroom.

Yeah I hear you there Chrissysoul; you've certainly got it much worse now than I did when I was flaring.

If you go for remicade, you should know within the initial loading doses whether it is working for you (i.e., you start seeing improvements in your symptoms). I noticed an improvement a week after my second loading dosage. Then a bigger improvement after my 3rd loading dosage. Afterwards, slow but steady improvements with each additional remi dosage. It took me nearly a year on remicade to reach symptomatic remission, and I tend to respond very slowly to the uc drugs (I had a real bad flareup and lots of damage needed to heal). Some heal faster. Generally 60%+ of patients notice an improvement in their symptoms with Remicade. The infusions are no big deal, no pain other than the prick of a needle. Then lots of waiting, like 2-3 hours. So bring a ipad, kindle, or some other activity to keep you busy.

To DRR: I don't recall that the Depends breakaways which I mentioned above were called "adjustable undergarments"; they did not have tabs. However, female UCers may get better fits from disposables than males because females tend to have naturally ample hips, where males usually are less wide in that area. It does seem, though, as you noticed, that a lot of the disposables target urinary incontinence-- so a UCer with major urgency really needs to buy the "super-absorbent" type. / Old Hat (34 yrs with left-sided UC; presently in remission taking brandname Colazal)

I'm little and the Depends are definitely too big. Even though he bought me the smallest size they make. They are not comfortable between my legs because they are wider than I am.

I am considering trying a large toddler diaper. Since kids don't seem to be potty trained any more until they start school, they might be as big as I am.

But... getting over myself, magic underpants have made all the difference in starting to get my life and my confidence back.
