Hello everybody,
Need Your opinion.
For last 4 months I’m o 5ASA suppositories 1g. only (1 in 2 days). I feel quite ok(no blood no DI) except occasional stabbing pain in my left size(it comes and goes whatever). For last 2 weeks pain became constant. Yesterday I was diagnosed with 4 mm cyst in my left ovary (no cyst a month ago!!!!!!). Doctor prescribed low dose progesterone for 10 days and said it will go away by itself. Anyway, today pain in left side is bad, especially when I sit, I also noticed one “lonely” clear mucus with a tiny amount of blood in stool.
My question is- should I consult my GI regarding this one “lonely” clear mucus with a tiny amount of blood in stool? And can this pain be not from ovary?

It's kind of hard to tell the difference between an ovarian cyst pain to UC flare pain. I had a large ovarian cyst that was eventually laparoscopically drained but the pain was intense. I also was flaring at the time.

Anytime you are in doubt, call your doc. There is no harm in asking his/her advice. In the meantime, to help with the pain it is safe to take Tylonel (as long as you have no liver issues) and you can try using a heating pad.

Thank You Red_34 for Your answer. I just not feel good calling my doc without serious reason; I do not know if that small mucus is the reason...

You mentioned seeing a little bit of blood? If there was no blood prior it can mean that things are a bit fragile in there. If you're using the supps only every other day, you can try doing them daily until things clear up. Also, hormones such as progesterone can cause issues.

Hormones make me flare. I flared going on birth control pills, going off the pills, when I got pregnant, and through the swings of perimenopause.

A lot of UC women have issues when their hormones fluctuate.

Call your doctor to tell her/him you're on progesterone and worried. That is a perfectly acceptable reason to contact your doctor.

I'm sure your doctor would rather hear from you when there's time to manage the situation vs. after you're flaring.

Agree that you may want to increase your rectal meds for a week or two. Ask the doctor.
