using DRUGS !

do you really truly swear on your on your granddad Myron's grave that you absolutely truthfully to the fullest, actually have/did have uc ?

some folks here have stretched the bounds of common decency and niceness, by making the ludicrous claim that those blessed chosen ones that found the submission rainbow WITHOUT MEDS, really truthfully infactuality did not indeedy really honestly have REAL UC !!!!


if drugs put you in transmission, what makes any criminally insane person or persons believe they in factuality really have/had UC ?

so then by all accountants then, if you wind up with a quasi colon/baggette, then you my dearest one's REALY,REALY did absotively have the REAL and TRUE uc !!! cuz no powerful druggests or dieticians made your colon remiss ???!!!

get my gift ?


oh, and R.I.P. mr. Jack Bruce - you were truly one of the great one's !

Dude, these diseases are mysterious... you know that. I think that there are MANY different forms of the disease. It's like saying you have a headache: do you have it because you are sick with a cold? Do you have it because you are low on sleep? Do you have it because you drank like a fish last night??

If a person has the symptoms of UC, and has had biopsies from a GI doctor tested in the lab, then they classify as having UC. Some of these people are fortunate to respond to milder treatments, others are not.

I do swear I have/had UC. Man I have given up so much of my life dealing with it, and researching it. Within a week of stopping the "DRUGS" my gut was back to introducing it's troublesome self to me. I have been able to moderate it's negative effects for a week... but that has seemed impossible to carry on over the long term when I've tried it.

Anyways, since I think what you're getting at is that some people don't think you have UC since you aren't on drugs (are you??, lol), I honestly would just be thankful. The disease is a darn beast to some of us.

I think soy is irritated because some people on here say that if you're in remission w/I using drugs, that you must have never had UC.

Anyway, to answer the question, yes,
I do. My biopsies confirmed it and I really trust the GI I had when I was diagnosed. I've also had that one minor flare since.

Does my answer count more, soy, since I think it is possible to be in remission w/o using drugs?

People's interjections coincide with their personal experiences. I would have been in the medicine boat four years ago because that's the only modality I was taught. Saying (or demonstrating in your case) that a drugless remission (or a cure) is possible invalidates the experiences of those brought up in a westernized medical system.

Nowadays, all I need to see is a living example and that validates my experience. It also makes me question the goals of our current medical establishment.

Soy, I think it is both amazing and confounding that you've achieved a medication-free-remission. If it were simpler do steps 1 through 10 and achieve remission without meds it would be much easier for others to produce the same results. And I am sure many of us envy you for that as we take our medicine cabinet of pills lol. However, I think you do not represent the majority (sad but true).

I think a medicine-free-remission is what everyone hopes for when first hit over the head with: you have uc, a lifelong course of medicines is the only option. As many uc patients are young, healthy people when first diagnosed and that is one incredibly hard pill to swallow (both literally and figuratively). They are initially in denial, so many look for a way out of this fate, thrown unwillingly upon them and we see many newbies posting this here as a testament to it. And I think it is irresponsible to set these newbies off on a quest to find a medication-free path, while they suffer with uc symptoms, when the odds are small it will work for them. Therefore, I urge them to take the traditional medication path while applying alternatives at the same time.

Do you have uc? You probably do, as misdiagnoses are fairly rare. You are perhaps just very lucky. Cheers!

and yes, I agree - i am part of the sad majority - who wouldn't be with all the chaos going on at jc penny with the holidays glooming shocked

but as we all know, life with uc (or whatever you want to call crapping your pants 30 times a day) has never been a barrel of donkies !

Why? The disease was usually a relapsing condition with periods of flare and remission before they had medication for it. Meds have just been shown to increase the time between flare ups for large groups of people and/or to induce remission remission faster.

There is no doubt in my mind that some can achieve and maintain remission without meds. My doctor tells me every time I see him that some patients of his have been med free for years and others never achieve remission despite multiple medications.

Keep in mind that there are varying degrees of severity too soy and that could likely play a huge factor as to why some people can find remission easier (including not using meds but instead diet/naturals) to find their remission....IBD is so complex and that's why they haven't been able to CURE all of us.

Thank you, thank you, thank you for saying this. I don't think anyone ever believes me when I say it, so maybe they will be more inclined to believe you.

How on earth does anyone think people in the past with IBD managed? The majority managed by not having stupidly severe disease and having periods of remissions and relapses. The minority who never go into remission are just that: a minority. I was one of them until surgery. (And even so, my disease may be coming back again - that's Crohn's for you.)

I think some severe cases ended with the death of patient, before modern meds (anemia, dehydration, starvation, etc). Colectomy was possible and the only option before modern meds (if you go 50 or so back). Yeah people go in and out of remission, but some flares and symptoms were severe then, as they are now. Iologics are less than a decade old for uc, if it wasn't for biologics I would have needed surgery, for sure.

Of course, but severe cases necessitating surgery only account for about 20% of the UC population. Most are in the mild to moderate categories.

Biologics don't always work. Having Remicade was the equivalent of having saline infusions for me. In fact the surgery rates for IBD don't really seem to have gone down at all - at least not so far.

Yeah I'm kinda wondering if I really have colitis too. I could just be lucky, but I've had 2+ years of normal bowel movements. No meds no loose bowels unless virus or food poisoning which was maybe 3 or 4 times. I did discover that I was allergic to eggs, which was always a part of my diet.

Unfortunately I was diagnosed with uc. Had ulcers throughout entire colon when I was diagnosed. And had c diff. It was really fun

I think you can get into remission without meds but I also think, often on this site, people without diagnosis tend to come on and tout diet or supplements but they never had a scope... That's where I draw the line. Sorry but if you never had a biopsy showing uc, I don't care what got you into "remission". We don't even know if you have the same condition.
