Hello, all!
I've been on Remicade since May and I'm about
to go in for my 6th infusion on Tuesday. I started seeing a small bit of blood yesterday and today it is definitely there. My question for you all on Remicade is: Is seeing blood common for you when you're almost to your infusion date? And how long after the infusion does it take to get things back under control? I feel like I'm still fairly new to Remicade and I'm still trying to figure it out!
Thanks a bunch, you all rock!

Hey there, sorry nobody replied to you all afternoon.
I've been on Remi since January 2012. I'm stopping taking it, at least for one infusion, for issues with a side-effect. However, I've definitely had enough experience with it to lend a word or two to you.
I've seen blood before while on Remi during the normal 8 week cycle. There wasn't a lot, but I remember it. It happened either once or twice. Personally, I usually did just fine up to and past the next infusion date. One time though I delayed the infusion for one week due to this side-effect issue and I flared intensely, will blood and all, within about
5 days.
As far as your situation goes, I wouldn't be concerned right now. It is worth mentioning to your GI doctor, but I think you'll be just fine. I remember one of the times I was seeing just a little blood and thought it was curious because I was on Remicade (had been for a while at that point), but it soon went away and I was fine. I think stress or exhaustion may have played a role in that incident.
For what it's worth, right now I'm 19-20 days past when I was supposed to get my infusion of Remicade, and I'm not seeing blood yet. It's a very unpredictable thing, haha.
Please ask more questions if you'd like and if I'm able to be on again I will try to answer (been very busy lately).
Good luck!

It is possible to have a small return in symptoms just before your next remicade infusion. Keep an eye on it and keep your GI informed. At this point, nothing to worry about
he/she will say be mindful of this before your next infusion. It could be a sign that you may eventually need remicade more frequently, that remi is running out before the next scheduled dosage. Tests can be run, anserifx is a blood test by Prometheus labs that can check the levels of remi within your blood a few days prior to your next infusion. Some build up antibodies to remicade over time, and that test checks for those antibodies within your blood.

Thank you all for the response! There wasn't any blood today so it may have been a fluke. I'll see how it goes tomorrow!
