Well, its been almost a year of torment and I'm finally turning to the internet for support. Like many of you i suffer from some hypochondria. Just thought i'd include that in my post here.
Ill post two versions for those that don't want all the details :)
My questions:
Does me having pancreatitis and proctitis have any sort of correlation? Ive never had any gastro problems, my moms brother has Crohn's disease, and my sister has IBS. Ive also started a new Job when all of this happened. I've started a job as a Tool Maker and i grind alot of metal, that being said im sure ive digested metal dust along the way, not to mention the alluminum oxiode griding dust from the grinding wheels used. I use a mask as much as possible but its always difficult to wear it ALL the time.
Anyways what should i be doing to make sure this doesnt turn out to be anything worse and keep it under control. I think im lucky based on the stories iver read about people with UP and UC.
---------Short Version--------------
Pancreatitis early Jan 2013
checked for gallstones, ultrasound and MRI (found nothing)
went on strict diet of low-no fats, pancreatitis gone after a month
Foul smelling gas and loose stool Spring 2013
was going through alot during this time, very stressed, anxious, GI told me it was stress related
Mucus in stool Summer 2013
After being Ill with what seemed to be some sort of food poinsing i began having mucus in my stool, no change in amout of BMs or pain/ urgency just mucus and blood streak on stool and blood on tissue.
after doing sigmoidoscopy proctitis was my diagnosis, was perscribed salofalk 1,000mg ASA-5 and Cortifoam.
----------Full Version------------
Jan 2013 i started to suffer from upper abdominal pain, I ignored it or didn't think much of it until i realized it wasn't going away and the pain was constant throughout the day. Went to the hospital, did blood work and turns out i had pancreatitis. checked from gall stones, didnt have any. did a mri and ultrasound, everything came back fine. spent a few nights in the ER with a drip and went on a strict diet of very to no fats. after 5 months i tapered off the diet. During this time I was going through ALOT of stress, almost lost my father and i was going through bouts of foul smelling gas and loose foul smelling stool, went back to the gastro, told me it was stress causing my problems, after a few weeks it went away, went back to having normal stool. Sometime this summer i got a fever out of no where and had diarrhea, i didnt think anything of it at the time i just figured it was some bad food i had or something. Went away after two days. But once my stool went back to normal after being ill i started seeing white mucus covering my stool (mainly the first few inches of my stool) Back to my doc, said its probably a bug or bacteria, did a stool sample to see. During the wait for my results i had saw a blood streak on one of my stools, went to the hospital... they told me it was probably an internal hemorrhoid, that made me feel good, started to think it was just an internal hem. during this period i got my sample back, it came back fine. (this is over the course of probably 3-4 months) finally got an appointment with my GI and he saw me, told me he wanted to do a sigmoidoscopy to see whats happening, he had a feeling it was proctitis and wanted to look. Of course i went online that night and freaked out because it sounded like a terrible disease to have! over the time i was waiting to hear back from my test, my mucus was slowly become less and less but everytime i had a bm i would wipe and have blood on the tissue (bright red) this whole time i would never have any pain or discomfort or any urgency to have a bm, infact my bms were always at the same time and always fully formed, when I did my sigmoidoscopy and took a biopsy, got results back and it looks like ive got proctitis. He prescribed me Salofalik Supp 1,000MG 5-ASA and some cortifoam. Ive started the suppository on tuesday (its been 3 days) and immediatly the blood stopped. Ive chosen to not use the cortifoam because im not really sure when to use it.
***I dont have time to proof read this post, i will revisit when i have the time later today, if something doesnt make sense please reply and ill try my best to revise later tonight.
THanks!
