I can only speak of my own experience with Entyvio and Remicade. Needless to say, your mileage may vary. I went through 6 Remicade treatments--the last 3 being double dose. I had very little, if any improvement. Any attempts to taper off of prednisone didn't go well. I went back on a higher dose of Prednisone shortly before starting on Entyvio in early October. I've had 3 treatments and am scheduled for number 4 in mid-January.
On Remicade, I had no significant side effects--other than fatigue the evening of a treatment which sometimes lasted into the next morning. Unfortunately, as i said--it didn't do anything for me. I have definitely had improvement with Entyvio so far. It's been slow--but steady. As with Remicade, I've had no significant side effects--other than the same feeling of fatigue that evening. And, I've been able to taper down on the prednisone from 40mg to 7.5mg so far. I'm finally also starting to see some improvement in my morning routine--which has always been the most challenging time of the day for me.
For the first time in nearly 2 years I'm feeling that I'm getting control of my life back again. I certainly am feeling better. The only downside (but my GI doc is happy) is that I'm gaining back some of the 40 lbs or so that I had lost over a year. (I kind of liked where my weight was--just not the way the weight loss happened.)
Again--I can only speak for myself--but I'm really happy with the results I've had with Entyvio to date. I'm not in remission--but if I can keep seeing improvement, I'll get there--or close to it.
