I had a bout of constipation with bleeding this summer so I get where you are coming from. It's definitely not comfortable and can be so frustrating - like you, I'm grain free and really adhere to my diet, lots of water, veggies, healthy fats, etc. I couldn't figure it out.
I experimented with a lot of different things - some things that helped me:
1. I eliminated coffee, and then caffeine altogether. It wasn't easy, but I think that it kind of dried everything out and prevented things from moving along correctly. It makes some people go - it stopped me up.
2. Raw veggies! Again, they get things going for some people, but I became bloated and stopped up. I was amazed at how much this helped.
3. Magnesium supplements at night (I used Natural Calm). It apparently can have a laxative effect, so if things are looser I wouldn't take it, but this gave me a little relief and also helped my sleep.
