No I'm the only one with anything like that (that we know of, obviously it's possible that a long dead ancestor could have had it). I decided when I was in hospital the first time, that I'm not having kids and risking passing it on, so it will die with me, hopefully.
The specialist told me it was caused by a faulty gene, so I think my mum and dad were just a bad combination.
My sister had kidney problems when she was little.
My grandad had a stomach ulcer, and later died of stomach cancer, I don't know if that is related to bowels though, it was definitely just an ulcer.
My dad died of cancer of the oesophagus, which was due to excessive smoking and drinking, no problems with it before he got the cancer. It was very fast, he just got ill and died in a few months.
