I'm going on a trip for 15 days, and plan to take about
10 days worth of Rowasa with me.
My issue is the boxes are so big, and I don't know how to package the enema bottles without worrying about
them bursting. I don't think I have room in my carry-on bag to fit them, and I'd be concerned about
putting them in something like that.
If I check them, the temperature might affect the medication, right? Is there any "right" way to take this with me? I suppose I could just take two bottles and mail the rest out to the place I'm staying, overnight it to arrive tomorrow?
Anyone with any experience or ideas?

Don't check them. Most times that I had to fly with them, it was just for a short trip, and I'd stick them in a quart sized zip top bag with the Rx label from the box, separate from my other liquids. One time, when it was for a longer trip, I just took the foil pouch out of the box, cut the Rx label off the box, and taped it to the foil pouch. I also packed an extra quart sized baggie to bring back any extras.

So you think I should put them in a freezer baggie in my carry-on bag? I guess I can try that...

No, since you want to take at least 10, I'd just take two weeks' worth and leave them in the foil pouch that's inside the carboard box. And take the Rx label. I don't think doing that will take up much more room than if you packed 10 in zip top baggies. But also pack an extra baggie to bring the extras home in.

Well that's what I thought you meant.
I've got two freezer baggies filled with the foil pouch. I suppose I'll just have to be very careful with my bag as I carry it around/keep it in place on the plane.
I'm thinking there may be some merit to mailing this, though. It seems like the safest possible outcome to avoid the bottles bursting...

I traveled with them a lot, and I was no more careful with my bag than I was before. When I'd pack my bag, I'd put the enemas in my backpack along with my other liquids, so that they were easy to reach to go through security. After I got through security, I'd move the enemas and my other liquids to my roller bag, so that my backpack was lighter. My roller bag went up in the overhead bin and everything.
I did not, however, ever try to force my roller bag into the overhead bin, but I was always careful to not overfill the bag to make sure it would fit easily.

I'm only bringing a backpack on board, though. So I can't transfer them from there to anywhere else. I have two of the foil pouches in two freezer bags, respectively. I then put those two bags inside an even larger ziplock bag.
Does that sound safe? I honestly don't know if this is going to work out or not.

I would have felt completely OK leaving the baggies in my backpack - I just moved them to lighten the load in my backpack, since I also always had a laptop and work files in it.

just as a thought, if you overnight them to where you are staying, guess how they will get there? By plane, and they aren't flying first class with the heat on. It will be on a cargo plane, so my thought is if you are worried about
the cargo area of your plane, wouldn't a overnight cargo plane receive the same treatment? I don't really know about
overnight freight, it was just my first thought.

I've put rowasa enemas in my checked baggage before. Put the tinfoil tin in among my clothes for padding and no troubles.
Since you're using a care on, I'd put the bottles in a gallon, clear ziplock bag. I'd recommend printing the tsa statement about
bringing medicatio/liquids on board for medical necessity. The government not knowing it's own policy, yup it can happen.

I've checked mine before with no problems. I just left them in the sealed foil. You could also bring Canasa with you. In the unlikely event your luggage gets lost, at least you'll have something.

I check mine because I fear an underpaid TSA jerk would pull them out of my carry on going thru security, hold them up and over the PA ask me what it is.
.
I would tell him " stick it up your butt "
That's my own script
though!
Good luck !

traveled to aruba this past May and although I was scared to take my hydrocortisone enemas and also mesalamine enemas I put them in my carryon so I had no fear they would be lost if they were next to me on the plane. Unfortunately, a lot of stuff I would have put in carryon if I didn't take these had to be packed with checked luggage. I put them all in the plastic ziplock baggies with the rx label taken off of box, but did not
open the foil or plastic covering the bottles and took 14 total bottles with no problem. I did have to take them out of carryon for TSA but they just ran something over the packaging and let me go on my way.
It was not embarassing and did not take long at all. Like someone else said I put some clothing over them to shield them from any banging around. When returning any leftovers I just packed and took my chances.
Have a great trip!
