Rectal bleeding

I usually always have blood first in my flares, I've never had hemoroids though so can't say what symptoms they have...

My UC tends to also start as bleeding bright red blood, similar to how you've explained, and most times I don't have any massively noticeable pain until the flare progresses

You should go have it checked out with your doctor, the quicker you get a flare under control the better

Sounds like you might need to be on some sort of rectal meds for maintenance. Best to get this flare under control ASAP and then go long term on the rectals.

The cramps have been going on since last summer even when I had no other symptoms so it's a bit weird that all of a sudden I get bleeding out of the blue.

I did a Salofalk enema today and will carry on with it.

No urgency or frequency or anything else

I am so sorry Happychick! Let's hope the enema straightens it out, you were in remission for such a short time :(

Prednisone remissions arent real remissions. Its only after you have gotten off it and dont have symptoms. Blood tests arent a reliable remission test. A scope is the only one. If you have been having pain this whole time, i dont think you have been in remission. Hopefully, you dont need prednisone again and can get this under control while it isnt bad.

I have been off pred for a month. The thing is i am still not entirely sure it's a flare yet. Yes I'm having bright red blood tinged on my stool but that's not how my flares are. I usually get gas, then BM increase, then stools gets looser, mucus horrid smell and lastly blood shows. The blood has come straight away and it's just on my stool? I am going to ask for another stool sample. That is usually accurate for me

I feel so bad for you. What you have described is exactly what I am now experiencing. The blood mixed on outside of small formed stool for a few weeks now. I too thought it was just hemmies. Then I got so totally blocked up I thought I was going to explode. So much pressure on bladder I sometimes can hardly go or only produce minimal pee, then have to go again in 1hour. Occasion small bits of blood clots in bowl. Lots of gas which can't get out. I'm sure the gi will say it is constipation.

Then last night I remembered the first time this happened was right after I had kidney surgery and the next colonoscopy showed the uc had spread from left sided to pancolitis.

I just am getting off remicade and 6mp due to severe side effects. I was so happy that I was not having any UC symptoms such as d or urgency.

Ditto on the depression and emotional roller coaster. In tears all day yesterday. This is a terrible horrible disease.

Well, Have a GI doc appointment today. We will see what she says.

Don't get down happychick. I've been there so many times where I felt like a flare up would be around forever. It will subside. It doesn't even sound like you're necessarily flaring. Maybe hemmies, whatever the case, it is mild. I'd hit it with some steroid sups. Those would help rectal inflammation or hemmies. Canasa doesn't help a hemmie

I am right there with you girls! I thought I was getting better and today at work super cramps and a bowl that looks like a crime scene. I don't want to get back on budesonide but I might have to. Will give it a couple of days to see if it just getting worse before it gets better though.

I look like I am heading toward 6mp but that is my last resort. I don't have typical D or urgency so I don't know how to attack this disease!

Your symptoms sound like mine. I also don't have typical flares I.e no diaherea or urgency. But cramps are horrid and looser stools and blood. I am on imuran and it has helped but not that much as I'm flaring now

I am trying so hard to stay on the lower drugs because my fear is that 6mp won't work and then I won't know what to do because I cannot take biologics because I have other health issues that won't allow it. Very stressful. Last week I must have cried for hours in the wee hours of the night! It can be very scary and sad ESP if you are alone. Just not sure what to try next, maybe get off apriso and try new type of that kind, diff brand? I was on colizal and it stopped working and apriso did, maybe try to switch again?

I have recently done some research on lactose in drugs, as the tablets I was taking unknown to me had lactose in them, which made me feel terribly ill, and so I noticed that you are lactose intolerant and are taking the Meds budesonide. If you look at the link below, and scroll down to the bottom there is a table which lists many different drugs that contain lactose and budesonide appears to have a high measure of lactose in them.

Happychick..sorry you going through it all again, that is so depressing!

Well today I've had no blood! But still loose stools and that may be because of the two lots of rectal meds I did yesterday (steroid foam and mesalasine enema at night). Only going once a day. Still a few funny noises occasionally in colon but pain has gone down drastically today. May be a different story tomorrow though.... Still I shall try and stay optimistic. I am back on the lactose free milk now and I feel better. I feel that too much milk and ovaltine may have been the culprit! I think I shall stay on the lactose free milk indefinetly now.
