Do I have blood in my stool?

I went to the loo this morning and we have a mirrored cabinet behind our toilet. As a UCer you get used to analysing your poo and I sometimes do in the mirror. So this morning I saw that when my stool was coming out it looked bloody but then when I got up from the toilet and looked down the stool was soft but no blood to be seen. There was am asacol shell in there which I could have mistaken for blood but it did look bloody when it was coming out.

What do you all reckon? I'm getting a a stool sample done next week so I will know for sure.

My vote is no significant blood present if you did a visual inspection afterwards and couldn't see it. There was none on your tp when you wiped, right?

I agree with ipoop. It's really easy to get caught up in thinking you saw things you didn't when it comes to UC symptoms. At the same time, it's good to look and be aware just in case there is something there. If there wasn't any blood in the bowl or on the paper, I am sure it was nothing to worry about.

Nothing on the tp at all. But very soft stool. And I inspected what I could see of my stool afterwards and couldn't see anything

the only way for us to know if you have blood is if you put a picture up for us to see!!

if you can't tell if there is blood, then it may be of sub-clinical significance.

blood does always matter, but highly visible streaks, lots of red on tp, or the bowl looks like a bottle of fine was pored in - these are much more cause for alarm

I have not since had any blood so I think I was maybe just imagining it. I had started to flare last week after I drank some Ovaltine as I had blood in my stools for about two days but I upped my probiotic and started the rectal meds and no more blood since last week. However stools are still really soft, like mush. They were really formed this time last week. I suppose I will give it more time....

I personally only count myself as bleeding if I can see blood in the toilet or on the toilet paper. I've always seen soft stools as a separate symptom.

Fingers crossed that you get better soon x
