j pouch

Hi I've had my j pouch for a little over four years now. I was worried about the same thing while I had my temporary loop ileostomy because it ran like a faucet! The difference was like night and day once I had my takdedown and started using my j pouch. It wasn't as liquid and I had no problem holding it. There will be an adjustment period of course where you will be going a lot at first but it will slow down as you heal and your body starts adjusting. Just remember you'll need a bit of patience in the beginning. Now my stools are usually always semi formed and I go about 4-6x a day. Good luck! :)

I had really high-output with my loop Ileo, it was so high that I had to stay in the hospital for 16 days. At the max it was putting out 6 liters a day. The surgeon was considering connecting my j-pouch before they'd release me but thankfully with the combination of the max doses of 4 different bowel slowing agents I was able to be released.

12 weeks later I had my reversal surgery and my normal bms are 3-5 a day. I can eat whatever I want now.
