How long was you longest flare

I've never really reached full remission since my diagnosis in 2013. My longest full on flare (with blood, mucus, urgency etc) though has been going on since last August, so about 6 months now. Finally seeing some sort of remission with the help of Pred/Azathioprine. :-)

My longest flare was the 2.5 years before actual diagnosis. After that, my longest flare was about 4 months (and by that I'm judging it by nightly enemas till I was able to start to taper them).

My current flare has been going on since June and is the longest since diagnosis. Only had one other flare (was caused by antibiotics) and took me just a couple weeks on pred to get back under control. I am so close to being in remission. Hope to get there soon!

Seems like every time I flare up it ends up taking a year to get it under control. Once I got into remission with mesalamine, once with 6mp, always with steroids but that never lasts beyond the taper... I am now trying biologics but I wasn't one of the lucky ones who has seen instant results.

It was my first flare; early November 2008 - mid-March 2009. That's when I started pred, and my symptoms went away. Or, if you want when I got off pred, that'd be early May 2009. So 4.5 to 6 months, depending on how you count. I wasn't diagnosed until late January, though, so that definitely played a big role in why it was so long.

I had been on Asacol (max dose) since diagnosis and nightly mesalamine enemas since about two weeks after diagnosis. I was very close to remission, then my son shared a tummy bug with me, that really stirred things up again. I was willing to keep going with just mesalamine, but had a two-day-long interview coming up, and HAD to get well, so started pred. My symptoms went away pretty much immediately, and I was able to taper off pred with no problems.

My current flare started in March 2013, still in it. Remicade, AZA, 6-MP all didn't work, my new doctor has me on Entyvio and I just got my second loading dose a week ago. Fingers crossed...
