If I go to ER what can they do for me?

I am so close to go now I have huge hemmie or something and just not well. I am on 3rd canasa.

When you go to the ER, they will test your blood, check your hydration level, probably give you pain meds and possibly hook you up to IV steroids.

Omg that is a lot of canasa... have you thought about j pouch surgery?

I have to warn you that it is different for men and female, female patients with j pouch have higher risk of infertility I believe based on some studies I've seen. I am seeking a single incision one step j pouch surgery, but it may be in two steps.

It is the cure for ulcerative colitis. You cannot have inflammation of the colon, colon cancer, hemorrhoids, and tenesmus without a colon and rectum.

Looking at people's videos (selective few, probably most are happy living life again as normal people as can be) they seem happier and healthier

I am very weak and dizzy. I just don't know how much it will cost me. I broke!

I ended up in the ER several times in my UC career unfortunately.

They will likely give you iv fluids, pain meds if you are in pain and need them, they will take several viles of blood. Two times I needed a blood transfusion because my hemoglobin was a 4. If you need to be admitted then most likely they will have you on bowel rest (no food).

If you are feeling that poorly, then definitely go. Dehydration is nothing to mess around with and if you're dizzy you're probably dehydrated.

Pretty sure a lot of us are dehydrated right now, drinking water byitself feels painful for me.

I don't want this to be interpretted the wrong way because I'm saying it out of concern for your health but you really need to quit posting with questions and go to the ER. I realize you're worried about cost but you're a mother and the longer you let this go the worse it is going to get and the harder it is going to be to treat.

I would head to the ER. Sounds like you need to get stabilized and possibly hydrated. Don't worry about the cost right now. You can always work out a payment plan with the hospital. I had a friend pay $25/month on his bill because he was broke. The hospital will work with you.

Please please please just go to the ER. I say it from recent experience.
I waited and waited until I walked in the door of my parents' house to get feed for my horse and my dad took one look at me and said, "You are not well....at all." And the next AM I was in the ER severely dehydrated and with low potassium. My heart was racing and I was extremely dizzy. They hooked me up to IV fluids and gave me potassium as well as ran a few tests.
They almost kept me because of how bad I was. Please don't worry about the cost right now - take care of yourself! Let us know how everything goes!

Thank you guys! I did not go to ER because I am more broke than you can imagine and I just freaked out! I did go to urgent care and all my vitals are good which makes me feel so much better, he physically checked my tummy. He then gave me a shot of pred, he called it a booster shot. He said it will work immediatly and maybe last a couple of days. Maybe it will help? He said it would for all the inflammation.

Have you ever had a booster shot, I think it was a good idea on his part!

Can't say I've ever had a "shot of prednisone." Not familiar with that. Oral prednisone and IV pred yes, but not sure what you mean by booster shot. Anyway, hope you're feeling better and please take care of yourself.

Thank you Marianne. Yeah I got a shot 1cc right in the butt. I thought good, it's close to where it needs to be! I can't help but think not as good as IV but better than pills. Way cheaper than ER. If he had told me to go to ER I would have.

i think he gave you a Dexamethasone IM injection, i think lasts for a few hours but it should give you some relieve as it works very quickly, unless it was Betamethasone which lasts for like a month.

Meanwhile you should be on stronger meds, i would reconsider 6mp/imuran if i were you or starting a pred course.

Hey DMC. I'm glad you got in to see someone today. I wondered about you as I was driving back home after going out this afternoon.

Today your posts were all over the place, from enemas, to steroids, to doctors, to ER/urgent care, to 6mp. I'd say you might be going crazy... but I'm pretty sure I've come off worse than that on here, lol. It just gets so overwhelming sometimes. When things start cascading badly and we feel hopeless we really start searching for help... maybe a bit erratically!

Every time I've been on here all over the place like that has been an overwhelming moment in my life. I hope for you that you're able to start sorting out your health/finances and getting them in order one by one. It's taken me a year and a half of fairly constant chaos with people close to me having all sorts of problems, having my own, and going through deaths and enormous career shifts... but all I have known how to do is keep stepping up to the plate and swinging. I hope you do the same. :)

Best hopes/prayers for you and your kid.

Thank you T! Yes I can only imagine what it looks like but in all honesty ypthis situation has driven me completely crazy.

Today I am going to try to find good primary care. Then maybe a new GI.

I think that will be key.
