Are they planning a 2 or 3 step surgery for you? It took me a month or two to really get used to the ileostomy but I can tell you there comes a point when you don't even realize you have one except when you change the appliance every x amount of days.
I am fully confident that if I couldn't of opted for the pouch or ever have to go back to an ileostomy I could live a perfectly happy life.
My colon was so bad I woke up with 2 bags, one was a mucus fistula...that was a little shocking.
Anyone whoes been through bad uc flares knows about
and the lack of freedom to lay in bed the entire night not having to get up to crap constantly and waking up after surgery with a catheter and Ileostomy bag you can. As you lay in bed crapping and pissing your self to recovery while high as a kite as some cute nurses do the rest, eh, lifes not too bad, many a men dream for this very situation. :P
I think the amount I learned about
my self and others through the whole experience I wouldn't trade for anything.
