I know pancreatitis can be extremely painful, so sorry! There is a form of autoimmune pancreatitis, and there is a tie between IBD (both Crohn's and UC) and pancreatitis. Try to do some research...let us know the outcome of your ER visit? Best.

Sorry for the late update. I got home from the ER really late. Spent about 9 hours. They did an ultrasound and the pancreas is in fact inflamed but they ordered me a ct scan to rule out any growths. the doctor in the ER chalked it up to drinking alcohol which I don't do much of to begin with. But prior to this episode of pancreatitis I spent a weekend with my buddies snowboarding and Ofcourse some alcohol was involved. Nothing over the top or out of the ordinary for my consumption but they seemed to be concerned that maybe my pancreas is extra sensitive to alcohol and recommended that I stop drinking altogether. I'm not sure how I feel about this, I've drank before... More than I did last weekend and I didn't have any problems. Where do I go from here?
Ps. I'm home now, I'm on a clear broth diet with low/no fat for 24 hours

Until you know something else inflamed you pancreas, you do not drink a drop of alcohol. It is that simple. Even if only 1 out of 10 occasions lands you in the ER, can it ever be worth it?

I'm the worrying type... So I'm super anxious not knowing what's going on.

if leo is an alcoholic, then I would agree z girl - but it sounds like he just has a few beers with the boys once in a while - that doesn't sound too difficult it it means not being sick -

if he drinks because he has social or other anxiety issues, then that's another challenge, and he should be addressing that - maybe he is ?

Leo after you get your results let us know, ok? You have a recent diagnosis of proctitis which was being managed and you were due to see your GI in late April. He or she needs to know if your pancreas is inflamed, as there can be a connection.

Make sure to tell whatever doc you see today about your proctitis, they might also have a clue, I know things are different in Canada, in America there are often only contract MDs (not the best) at most facilities, unless it's a teaching hospital. Good luck.

If you already had pancreatitis since a year ago, it seems that the reason hadn't yet been been established.

I'd suggest you possibly see an endocrinologist..??

Do lots of research, and make sure you're getting all the testing as to the why this is going on.

Drinking alcohol would exacerbate an already distressed pancreas, so don't drink until you absolutely KNOW what's going on. The drinking is an easy excuse for your situation by the doctors....
