I got one and sent it in last month. I got my results about 3 weeks later, they send you a full, raw DNA analysis (uninterpreted) and your ancestry. They no longer do the risk assessments or any data analysis for you. Now I need to find some place to have all that data processed so it means something to me!

I did it and ren te data through some interpretation site. Did not tellme a lot I would not have suspected. SOme of the genes associated with inflammation and IBD went ping for me.

There might be more to mine if I got into specific SNIPS and examining which drugs/therapies might work best.

Glad it is free. They will make their money selling the data to drug companies. I'm OK with that.

Yes I encourage everyone w/ UC in USA to join the project. They only have about half the number required to get project funding. I actually found a first cousin through the site who turns out to be living just 50 or so miles away, and then other more distant relatives. You can find out if you have certain genes indicative of problems but no health reports.

Check out promethease. It costs $5 though.

I also live in NY but my husband had to go to Massachusetts last month so I sent my sample with him to mail. They will send you the kit, you just have to mail it from outside NY.

I did this and got my results about a month ago. Turns out that I have higher Neanderthal genetics then the normal population and that I'm very distantly related to Prince Phillip, Marie Antoinette and Napoleon - so I'm a royal cave woman :)

I think getting results comes second to actually giving them dna for there study.

We have a trip to FL planned at the end of March, so I could just take it with me a mail there. Is it a pre-paid envelope for return shipping and/or does it have to go UPS or FedEx? I want to do as little as possible while we're gone.

I can also just order it before we go visit family in MI or IN as well. Just not sure when we're going there next.

It goes through usps and you can take the kit with you and Mail it from FL for sure!
I wish they gave us some input on their IBD research, perhaps a bit more info on what they are looking for, or a summary once it is complete. More out of curiosity than anything else. I am more than happy to help research these diseases.
Sherry, I am only 2.9% Neanderthal, and 88% British/Irish with the rest coming from Italy, France and Norway. Much more limited than I expected! I haven't searched relatives yet, I might do that later today!
