In A flare anything will bother but a bagel and cream cheese would kill me. Breakfast eggs, ;-)

Hi Michelejc,
Do you eat dairy? It might explain the urgency and the mucus.

A little D, mucus with blood, then feels like constipation, no pain, no fever....just discomfort in the butt. Doctor did not ask for a stool test.
Last night, I did my canasa and enema right before bed. After around 45 minutes, I had to go, which I did, a couple of times but I felt ok. This morning, I did a canasa, 2 lialda and my VSL#3DS. I felt good until I decided to eat a bagel. I do feel a little better today.

I don't eat that much dairy.
I will be eating my 'flare' foods until this gets better. Eggs, rice, bananas, plain toast.

likely not c-diff if no pain and not too much D. you could revisit question later if nothing resolves.

Hi...is he adding the Uceris to what you're taking now?
Did you have stool samples done as well?
Hope you feel better soon,

You may need more rest than you're getting-- with a severe flare. What is the sick leave policy like at your workplace? / Old Hat (34 yrs with left-sided UC; presently in remission taking brandname Colazal)

Old Hat: I"m on FMLA so if the flare does not get better, I will be taking off for a couple of weeks.
Quincy: Yes, the Uceris is in addition to 4 lialda a day, 2 canasa a day and Hydrocortisone enemas.
I just got the Uceris; 9 MG tablet. Until I can get on the 6mp, let's see how this works.

You might want to have your dr check with the lab to make sure they ran the test. In January I had a lot of blood work because I had a bad sore throat and my PCP was trying to figure out what was causing it. The lab never ran one of the tests the dr had requested. By the time we figured out that they never ran the test I was starting to feel better so it didn't matter anymore.

CCinPA: I just called them. The are checking and will call me back. I got the bloodwork done on March 4. Half of it came back. The other half got sent out of state and that is not back yet.

Ok, I'm good to go for the 6mp. My doctor is calling it into the pharmacy.
I paid 15 dollars for the Uceris for a month's supply.
My doctor wants me to stay on all other medications until the 6mp kicks in.

I'm feeling SO much better!!
Is it the uceris that is doing it? Or the 6mp? I just started the 6mp the other night and I know that takes around a month to kick in.

I'm wondering why I have to take 6MP if the Uceris is working.

because uceris is a steroid - so it's best to avoid taking it long term - but .......if it works ...........???
honestly, i don't know much about
it other than that -

Actually, a blood test can look for c-diff antibodies, which would indicate current or recent infection. One of my GI's did this routinely if I'd been on antibiotics since my last visit with her.
