Hello, I am new on here. I was diagnosed with colitis about a year and a half ago. Currently taking Apriso 4 capsules daily, which is helping. But I still see some blood once in a while. I tired regular rowasa before and it made me worse. So I asked my doctor to prescribe sulfite free rowasa but my pharmacy at Walgreens says they they can't order it. I called other pharmacys and they all said they can't order it either. Does anyone know which pharmacy is able to order sulfite free rowasa?

I usually get mine from cvs or giant, it was hard to get, but very worth it!

I had the same problem. The only way I could get them was through express scripts. Apparently my insurance doesn't reimburse the actual cost of the script, leaving a $600 cost to the pharmacy.

Had the same problem. I'm in IL and I tried Walgreens and CVS but neither could order it. Finally tried Jewel/Osco and they special ordered it.

I called my insurance company and they actually called a bunch of places for me to try to help and that's how I ended up getting it filled at Jewel. You might also be able to call the makers of SF Rowasa and ask if there are any pharmacies near you that can order it (this was suggested to me by CVS).

I finally got it! My pharmacist helped me call another Walgreens after I kept calling him about this. He was able to locate another Walgreens that was able to order it for me. Now, I just hope this works for me. Thank you all!

I used it for 1 week and it's been up and down. I was getting more bleeding and more BM some days, but some days I was ok. I noticed that the SFRowasa that I used last week was dark brown in color, and when I opened a new foil pack yesterday, it was white. So maybe I've been using bad enemas last week...

the color changes with age/air, but I don't think they are "bad"

I read the paper and it says to dispose any dark brown enemas...

The entire enema contents was brown? or just at the tip?

up and down is normal....please stay on them for a few weeks nightly and see how you do at that point.

I think the whole bottle. All 7 bottles in that pack was dark brown when I squeeze out the air and see the tip of the liquid. Some of the liquid dripped out and it was also dark brown. But when I opened a new foil pack yesterday, I see white liquid in the first new bottle.

Were they expired? I'm sure you could have exchanged them at the pharmacy if expiry date was OK and you didn't have them for a long time.

Something to consider in the future.

Good news! I have been doing well. I only have 0-2 BM a day, but when I do have a BM, it's loose, no blood. The dark brown enemas were not expired. I just got them at the pharmacy about 2 weeks ago with an expiration date of June 2016. Now that I know the dark brown enemas are no good, I'm taking them back to the pharmacy for new ones next time. Do I need to use the enemas every day or can I use it 2-3 times a week?

Hi Guys-

I switched to SFRowasa recently - taking it nightly has been of huge benefit to me.

The past two times i have filled my 28 day prescription, one of the 7-packs included is defective. At least 1-2 visibly leaky bottles, but also all seven bottles contents are dark brown, even though not expired.

Loosing 25% of the product is obviously problematic for several reasons.

I see in this older thread, and i think another thread, that this problem has been encountered over the years.

For those of you on the board taking SFRowasa, is this just something that I need to deal with?

It took me a long time to locate a pharmacy which would fill this script, and they are shipping me the product form about 40 miles away, so returning the damaged product would be difficult. I don't think they want it anyways, but also they are helping me while no one else would, so i don't want to be a nuisance to the owner.

I get mine filled fro express scripts and every now and then I get a batch with a bottle that has clearly opened and leaked out over all the others. I simply called them and they asked me to email photos of the ruined package and they replaced it.
It is hard to find and I do sometimes get bottles that are more brown Than others, but not sure what causes that. You could also call the manufacturer and let them know what is happening. I called meda pharmaceutical when I had a funky looking batch and they were very kind and helpful.
