Surgery

I've been suffering with colitis for 10 years. I'm 27 years old. I just had surgery. I wrote about my experience and I think anyone who is on the fence about surgery or just want to hear another story similar to their own..check it out!

I read it and learned a lot so appreciate the info. So you went through azathioprine, infiximab and Envitro was not working?
Your headaches were the result of blood loss? Did you try any non prescription therapies diets or products

Hey Mattee. I had the J-Pouch surgery in Oct and takedown in Jan. My experiences were a lot like yours...kept telling myself for 10-15 years that I really didn't have a problem. Just dealt with each flare as it came and took my pills. But once I became prednisone dependent and biologics didn't work opted for the surgery. I'm not quite 12 weeks out from takedown but I already LOVE my pouch. Returned to golf a few days shy of 6 weeks because the weather was so perfect and I felt so good. Only issue I had was that the old stoma site wasn't quite healed all the way so my shorts kind've irritated the area during my swing. Other than that...no problems. Now back to playing 3-4x week. I only played one time with the ostomy bag but didn't have any problems with that either. Good luck on the rest of your journey. It will definitely be worth it!!!!
