I don't think you can "get" this from taking Entyvio so much as the lowered number of white cells in the gut can make you more susceptible to infection (and I bet anyone on an immunosuppressive med would have the same issue). I've been on Entyvio for 8 months and have not had C. diff - and I do get tested whenever my symptoms change (my doctor is really vigilant about
it - you won't get a script
for any antibiotic or steroid without the test). Both my current and last gastro (changed because I moved, not because I had any problems with him) have said that C. diff is endemic in their IBD patients (my gastro's nurse told me at my last appointment that they had 9 positive C. diff results in their patients in the last month - the most they had ever seen).
Anyway. I have been on Florastor for 5-6 years. My gut tolerates it well so I stay on it for the protective effect. Not everyone tolerates it, however.

My hair loss was from Prednoisine and lots of weight loss.
As I said on Entyvio Warrior forum, hey I am 82 yrs old and I wear great looking grey wigs.

I can't find trial articles right now but here look:
But the drug's presumed gut selectivity may also make patients more susceptible to gastrointestinal (GI) infections. "There is a small signal that there may be increased risk of C. difficile infection in these patients," Dr. Loftus says, "but the magnitude of this won't become fully apparent until the drug is used in clinical practice."

I had c. diff infection on entyvio but it could be induced by an antibiotic(clarithromycin). I had to use metronidazole, vancomycin and rifaximin along with florastor for that infection. I no longer use Entyvio because it isn't effective for my crohn's.

oh god. that's not good. my diarrhea started maybe a month ago?? i was really neutr
openic and then started having watery diarrhea all the time. i chalked it up to diet even though i was still following low fodmaps religiously. i figured it would pass but it was just getting worse. i took my simponi shot last tuesday and things have been going down hill. the past few days, i noticed my right abdomen was very swollen. i developed paralytic ileus in my ileum when i had c diff last time and it felt exactly like this. the whole area is very tender to the touch and i look completely pregnant.
can you get a stool sample?

I just got home from my 7th infusion today. I asked the nurses about
C Diff from Entyvio and they had not seen any in their office. They are also an initial drug trial site so they have been administering it for awhile.

Good to know! Thank u I feel more at ease. Mayo said they administer with the pred before entyvio so u don't build antibodies to meds and so u don't have a allergic reaction.
