Human Growth Hormone and Ulcerative Colitis

I am very interested in learning about people experience/results regarding taking Human Growth Hormone (HGH) for ulcerative colitis.

I have read two articles which discuss HGH treatment for Crohn's Disease. The two articles are by the same author Alfred E. Slonim. The first article is A Preliminary Study of Growth Hormone Therapy for Crohn's Disease and the second is the Effect of Exclusion Diet with Nutraceutical Therapy in Juvenile Crohn’s Disease

I was wondering if anyone could tell me how you are feeling/benefits since taking HGH. For example energy levels, are you in remission, if so for how long, do you still require colitis medications (Prednisone Mesalamine(salofalk) azathioprine(imuran) after taking HGH etc or at the very least decrease dosage of colitis medications. I understand HGH is expensive, so I was wondering how long people have been taking HGH for colitis before the cost/benefit plays a factor.

I am also curious to know if anyone else has found any other research besides the ones I have mentioned above. If anyone has can you please provide the name of the research you’ve read because I would love learn as much as possible? I have also read another article regarding HGH used on rats induced with colitis.

I have seen that a member on this form aguywithuc seems to be quite knowledgeable regarding this topic so I hope he will jump in.

I did not think it was a remedy for a flare. I might want to look into it next time.

I am fairly certain it never caused a flare. Safe for everything but your savings account.

Aguywithuc i am not sure from your previous statement but did you ever take HGH when you were in a flare up or did you only take it when a UC flare subsided?

In the “the Effect of Exclusion Diet with Nutraceutical Therapy in Juvenile Crohn’s Disease” all patients seemed to go into remission fairly quickly. Also there is this guy on YouTube who says he takes HGH only when he is going through a UC Flare.

Aguywithuc i read in a previous post of yours that you mentioned your joints felt a lot better after taking HGH. How long did it take you for you start feeling an improvement in your joints? Also what was your dosage I am thinking you where probably taking anywhere between 1IU-4IU a day? I am very interested in joint restoration myself because since I started imuran and have been told to increase my dosage my joints continually get worse and as well as my energy.

It was a miracle for joints began feeling good in week1-week2. 2-5 IU sounds right, when it took it for several months the first time I had to drop the dosage at one point.

I needed some this summer for a torn psoas while training daughter for sprints. Too expensive, but NEXT time I will take your advice and use HGH when I get into a flare. Please provide any and all links, its expensive but avoiding a flare is worth it to me and seems reasonable it would work.

I should have taken it only 5 days per week, I did all 7, probably would never do that again considering I had to drop the dosage and knowing the way the body adjust to changes its better to be cycling everything on/off.

600/month does not sound that bad, I don't recall I just know recently they did not want to even sell it they said it had gotten so expensive. I think a couple IU's is a big deal considering we do not produce much and most of it only if we go to bed on empty stomach then the first 1-2 hours is a big spike. Older folks and late night eaters like me have no hope so 2-3 IU would be a BIG plus. The desire for high IU ( which directly drives up the cost ) comes from bodybuilders who believe HGH + T is like 2+2=6.

For getting out of a flare I would think the low cost end would make a difference or not at all feel free to use email from my profile.

the amount they used was the following:
"a loading dose of 5 mg/day (subcutaneous injection) of growth
hormone (somatropin) for 7 days, followed by 1.5 mg/day
maintenance regimen"

if 1mg=3iu.....that would mean you had to take 15iu for the loading and 4.5 iu for the maintenance.... i dont see anyone here taking that much, can you please clarify for me the variance?

I do not recall much but 15iu strike me as unreasonable and would certainly cause bad side effects.

I think it is worth trying 5iu per day at first and drop back to 3iu and share if it pulls you out of a flare. I was not flaring and continued for months because I was making a ton of money, I never flared while taking it.

Now I look to .89 cent cans of Navy beans, Qing Dai, asacol HD because if that keeps working I will save a lot of money compared to not using them and having to rely on HGH.

Another route is taking Colostrum high in IGF-1. Works on joints and has been noted as a good adjunct therapy for colitis. Look for standardized products with guaranteed amounts of growth factors like Sovereign Labs and possibly Colostrum 6.

I have uc and have been taking hgh for about 14 weeks at 2.25 IU/day, 6/1. I have read that it has helped people with more severe uc, crohns. I am still fairly mild. I was diagnosed 2 years ago with a couple of moderate flare-ups early on. Nothing in a couple years thankfully. I also cycle test and anavar once a year and have never had any flare-ups while cycling. Anectodally, it seems to help.
Prednisone is evil. I take colozol daily now in a lower dose. When I had the aforementioned flare-ups I would take cortisol enimas once a day. This is a corticosteroid much like prednisone but withot all the nasty sides.

I take 50mg of pregnenolone and 25mg DHEA. Pregnenolone is what they used before prednisone was invented, and it has next to no side effects. I used it to transition off of prednisone in the summer, and now I'm in remission.

These biological hormones have given me my life back. I've tried and failed all expensive modern medicines.

I think if there's a risk of cancer, you shouldn't take DHEA long-term. However 25mg is relatively safe for people over 35. Pregnenolone is universally safe and actually protects the body from the impacts of stress. They are both safer than HGH in terms of cancer risk.

I don't think experimenting with HGH is necessary. If you get your adrenal steroid hormones sorted, then you can start exercising and eating right, and then your body will produce HGH on its own. Also once the stress response in the body is downregulated, inflammation drops and you start absorbing food better again. Then if there is any hypothetical cancer risk you can mitigate it with healthy diet and lifestyle.

The last time I flared a year ago, it took me 6 months before my body started absorbing iron again. I needed iron IVs once a month. This time, my body started absorbing iron again in 2 months, and this was after the worst flare yet. So this treatment is no joke.

I am normally extremely underweight but now I am muscular for the first time in years. I look like a healthy man my age. The fact that modern medicine no longer even thinks about pregnenolone for inflammatory conditions seems like a giant scam to me. It's been like night and day. I was able to get off prednisone pretty fast while taking preg, and while on preg my body started to heal a lot faster than normal.

I struggled with refractory UC for 5 years and for the first time I'm in clinical remission. I pay $15 USD for 2 months of DHEA and $25 USD for 2 months of pregnenolone. It's a joke compared to the cost of regular medicines. I will stay on them for life, provided the government doesn't do something to take them away, which is something they could very well try to do. I have a 5 year supply of each just in case.


We'll see if this treatment approach holds but so far I have found a miracle.
