new symptom with UC. Can u relate to this one?

Hi

Im only having 2 months UC now, but its being very active at his start.
1 week ago a felt a new symptom:

My GI gut wall feels sore and tender in the left and right under spot of large intestine.
I also can feel the inflammation is there.
so the gut is tender and sore.

I also have this sore stiff feeling when i bend over.
do u guys also have this feeling?
I dont poop blood. I have little stools and im on asacol.

When your uc is active (that is you are flaring) it is common to have a sore or tender abdomen. How much asacol a day do you take? It's a maximum of 4.8 grams a day, ask your gastroenterologist-specialist. Are you taking a meslamine-based enema such as rowasa or pentasa-enema?

I only take 3 * 800mg asacol pills a day.
I have pentasa suppos too but i dont use them.
I have lots of urgency and frequenty now.

do flares get less over time?
I also have IC (bladder inflammation).
same disease as UC but in bladder.

I must say those flares are shorter and i have weeks with very mild symptoms for my IC.
does UC gets better flare wise also? UC is new for me. have it 2 months after campylobacter infection.

Contact your doctor, and tell him/her about your worsening symptoms. Time to change your prescription/script around.

Take your petasa suppositories, they treat urgency, the biggest problem you are having now.

800 x 3 = 2,400 mgs of asacol a day. The maximum is 4,800 mgs a day, ask your doctor.

Every flare is different, some are mild while others are flares from hell. So, no, they do not necessarily get easier.

I just did bowel movement and symptoms decrease A LOT.
But the bowel stool was very small..
so the urgency wasnt equal against the stool.
its better now. i dont think increasing solves my problem :(

I think I can relate, I am feeling the same soreness and tenderness. I agree with iPoop, take your pentasa suppositories. They should help with urgency but it could take some time so don't delay it.

How on Earth could you know that increasing your Asacol and taking your sppositories won't help? You should at least try it before ruling against it.

sometimes when i skip dosage.. i still can have a good day or time.
i dont say its not helping.. i just have the feeling this medication isnt doing it 100%.
I can have better days with 1 * 800mg then 4 * 800mg. this i already tried and has proven to me.
I have to find something else then this asacol.

IC isn't the same disease as UC but in the bladder. So, best to differentiate.

Get on the suppositories with the Asacol.


You should ask the GI for Bentyl/Bentylol (dicyclomine) to help calm the spasming...it works well for both UC and IC.

Have tou tried changing the dose one day? These meds don't work that way. You should compare at least two weeks with one dose and two weeks with another dose. And you don't have time for that. Doctors have already done those studies. If asacol and the supps don't make you clearly worse you should have faith and use them.
