Lialda, ringing in ears ? anyone else?

HI, i did a search and it did come up as one of the side effects. I did up my Lialda to 3 a day about 5 weeks ago.. I noticed im having ringing in my ears that started Tuesday and im wondering if its from the Lialda. I was on Predisone and tapered off, my last day was Sunday. So i was wondering if it had something to do with that. I don't remember it happening when i was on Colazal.

Yes, I also have ringing in my ears and I'm on the minimum dose of Lialda.

I've never had any side effect from Lialda.

Aspirin and all of the NSAIDs give me a similar symptom -- extremely sensitive hearing (and sometimes ringing). Because of the chemical similarity, I would think the mesalamines could do it too. (But I'm not a doctor or scientist.)

I have never had that effect from Asacol or Canasa, as they are absorbed in the colon. Lialda is supposed to be absorbed there, too, as kazbern said. But maybe you're getting enough bloodstream absorption to get the effect? Probably impossible to know for sure, but sounds plausible to this layman.
