i posted a year ago on this thread that it constipates me badly in higher doses but nowadays this is not the case- go figure. I currently take large daily doses of it- as many as ten teaspoonfuls a day but usually about
5 or 6 at 5 grams per teaspoon... I consider myself- or rather, now have come to stop living in denial- that I have chronic IBS (d/urgency type) along with my UC, so in combination with a few immodiums at breakfast it keeps me down to one decent not too urgent stool a day quite often, the way I like it, as opposed to 4 or 5 urgent ones. Hopefully if LDN or something one day finally ends my low level of chronic inflammation, then I wont need the immodiums, but I think I will keep doing the glutamine as I see no evidence there is any toxicity and I am thinking that so long as i have never ending mild inflammation it is one more piece in my toolkit, along with my circumin, fish oil capsules, vit D, vsl3 capsules, s. boulardi, etc. (i am now med free except for LDN seeing as meds never seem to do anything for me anyhow.) I buy it in 1000 gram containers at vitamin shoppe- if they sold it in a 5000 g or 10 kg tub I'd get that lol.
