I was diagnosed 9/11/14. Have been hospitalized 2 times. Having another flare that has lasted about 2 weeks. Blood in stool has stopped but ton of gas and going to bathroom 15-20 times a day if I eat a little. Daily taking 500mg of florastor, 750mg of flagyl, 50mg of 6MP, 2 packets of enteragam, 22.3mg of nexium. On simponi 100mg every 4 weeks. Any suggestions on combating the flare?

Rectal meds either mesalamine enemas or steriod enemas.

When was the last time you were tested for c. Diff?
Are stools or gas explosive? Very smelly? Yellow? Stringy? With mucous?
Sorry to be so descriptive but those are some signs of c. Diff
Also flagyl can cause a c. Diff infection by killing out good microbiota and allowing c diff to grow and colonize in the gut

Forgot to add I am as of 10days ago taking butyrate suppository.

Was allergic to asacol and mesalamine.

Gave stool sample almost 2 weeks ago and no bacteria supposedly.

Have had mucus in stool on and off the last couple of weeks

Is there any bleeding happening?

One suggestion is maybe talk to your GI about trying a different biologic.

Enemas rather than the supps may help. Also, 50mg 6mp sounds low. If possible, upping that as well might help.

Other than meds any coping mechanisms? Any things to help soothe things?

I would be sure to get as much sleep as possible. Some people have trouble since they have to go to the bathroom in the middle of the night. But if your gut is willing to take a rest as you sleep, then by all means let it.

What is different that you are doing now than what put you into remission in the past? Why are you taking Flagyl? Florastor made me much worse after just one dose. Unless you really need both they could be a big part of your problem.

alternating hot packs and ice packs on my abdomen helps with the pain
there is always tylenol and tramadol if you want to take more drugs
