Kidney Stones? anyone else? this is BRUTAL

HI, man it just doesn't stop. now im dealing with a kidney stone. Ive had two episodes in the past but it was like 15 years ago. On Tuesday i went to the ER and have a 2.7mm stone that was close to passing the doc said..I thought i had it passed, on Wednesday i felt great no pain,. Now today at 6:30 this morn the pains came back and ive had it ever since. Anyone deal with these and UC? im currently in remission and constipated due to the pain killers. what is save to take for constipation? thanks

I'm sorry I don't have any tips for kidney stones as I never had them
But hang in there and kick those stones butt
You can do it
Try drinking lots
I'm not sure what is good for C when you have stones

IBD patients are at an increased risk of kidney stones. Ive had 5 in the 6 years Ive been diagnosed. Not much you can do except tough it out and take pain meds Im afraid.

I passed a stone about 3 weeks ago at home, and never had anymore after that (that I know of). It was on the left side, the same side as my UC. It hurt a lot because the ureter on that side passes so close to the inflamed bowel that the two pains join forces, and you can't tell the difference. My bowels kept trying to evacuate even though there was nothing in there. It was freaky.

Eventually the stone passed without incident. I'm getting it looked into now, but at the time I was feeling so depressed that I now had another complication.

When you passed the stone at the hospital, did they keep it for analysis? There are three kinds of kidney stones, and depending on the composition you can avoid certain foods so that it doesn't happen again.

IBD folks have higher tendency of kidney stone because of change in pH in the intestine. The oxalate molecule that needs to get excreted goes in vicious absorption resorption loop and when it gets calcium then you get kidney stones.

Tamsulosin should give you temporary relief but remember it is temporary, It will come back. I suggest you talk to the urologist and set up lithotripsy. You will get a good dose of Propofol (God, that feels so darn good) and get rid of kidney stone as well.
If you are a woman, I don't know if you can get Tamsulosin.

I had in Feb 2011. I rushed to the ER at 2am. I got codeine or morphine injection and then tamsulosin. The ER doc said, you will pass but that never happened. In June again, that bugger cropped head up and this time it was hurting lot more around kidney area. I got urologist consult and he tapped on the back side where kidneys are located. That hurt so much. I asked him to stop. He set up surgery to remove the one in the kidney entry but for the one that was in the kidney, he suggested lithotripsy.

Now I got Oxalobacter probiotic from India. I will start soon. Its been 4 years now since lithotripsy. I don't want to face that pain again. Its REALLY bad.

I suffered two nasty kidney stone attacks; one before I was diagnosed with UC and one after. I never sought medical treatment despite being in severe pain and vomiting for a few days. So much for my trust of today's medical profession.

My parents swear by Russian Black Radish as a natural treatment for the condition. This herb was recommended to them by our family physician back in the 1960s and helped them greatly. Our M.D. was trained in Germany where herbs were once considered a component of modern medicine.

I found relief taking a compound of herbs marketed under the name "Stone Free". I used to take the herbs as a preventative treatment a few times a year and I truly believe it helped. Good Luck. Kidney stones are hell.

Yep, just had my first one a few weeks ago, and I was diagnosed with UC this year, so I definitely blame the UC. You're right, it never ends. The symptoms of UC are bad enough on their own, but then it causes all sorts of other health problems. Whenever I've filled out paperwork at doctor's offices in the past, I used to just skim through the checklists, not having to check hardly anything. Now I have a bunch of stuff on those lists! I hardly ever went to the doctor (of any kind), now that I think about it. Now I have appointments all the time. Fun, fun. So sorry you have a stone. Hope it passes soon.

I always seem to get kidney stones after recovering from a flare. As others have mentioned, people with U.C. have an elevated risk of getting them. The only thing that takes the edge off the pain is percocet, although I use them only when absolutely necessary for obvious reasons. Without something for the pain, it becomes unbearable.

thanks, ya havent passed it yet..those percocet did constipate me though, I hope i pass it soon..i have a CT scan on Tuesday and if haven't passed it by then he wasn't me to do laser surgery on Thursday to get it out. :( that procedure doesn't sound fun at all. !!

Oh and when i got my first two stones back in 1999 and 2002 i believe, i didnt have UC yet. this is my first post UC stone.

Yes, I forgot about the effects on the digestive system from opiates. It does really slow everything down.
