advice needed

I am on 4000 MG of Salofalk tablets (daily) and the enema Salofalk4 nightly. The enema is relatively new to my regime. Since starting it I have become increasingly tired. So tired, in fact, that I have not been out for over 3 weeks. I just lie on the couch all day and walk from room to room exhausted.

I figured it was my blood pressure the other day so I've been monitoring it. My readings today are very low 107/63 and 108/67. Prior to this I had normal to high bp readings and feel low blood pressure. In the past when I get below "114/ over whatever" I experience fatigue-like symptoms.

I don't know what to do. What I do know is I will call my doctor tomorrow

until then, should I just stop (or lower) the Salofalk tablets or skip the Salofalk enema? I skipped last nights' Salofalk tablets but went ahead with the enema because of the improvement in my symptoms. I still have symptoms (blood/etc) but not as bad as before.

Does anyone else get low BP from the enema? I'm feeling very weak. Advice?

I haven't had my iron levels checked, but the last time I did (1 month ago) they were ok. I do know my bp when low causes these symptoms. I am also very pale. Maybe you're right and I should get them checked.

Yes, I was but it's tapering off now. I am so afraid of this because I am not feeling well (weak almost faint) but the D is better but the blood is tapering off.

My GI spoke of a steroid enema last week but we agreed to try this regime for another week. It's not working - I am still so bone tired I am not doing anything.

I think if I was feeling so weak that I felt like I might faint I would get myself back to the doctors too, so its good that you are planning on seeing him again. I wonder if you are reacting to the enema? its strange that you should feel so terribly tired after using it.....Do let us know what your doc has to say.

I am seeing my GP this afternoon (not ideal) and my GI is supposed to phone me. I would prefer seeing him today, but I'm relieved my GP will see me today. (It's my GP fill-in doctor…my GP is on MAT leave)

My BP went down to 101/66 yesterday. I thought I felt pale, ill and weak (no kidding - I normally have high BP) I was not game to sit in emergency 8+ hours waiting for a doctor to see me. (Long waits - Canada thing)

Thanks for all the advice. My GP did all the blood tests; iron, b12, d, sugar…a complete blood workup and pronounced the results as "perfect".

Seeing the GP (stand in GP - mine is away) was not pleasant. She was dismissive and rude. Her attitude made me feel like I was complaining about nothing. Anyone who knows me knows the last place I want to be is a doctor's office and something is really wrong if I do go. She asked me a question while putting the BP cuff on and then smacked my other arm to signal that I should stop talking. Just a horrible experience. :(

The only thing left (I think) is that I cannot take so much Salofalk (tablets and enema). I'll know more tomorrow after I see the specialist.

Maybe you will get some more answers when you see the specialist tomorrow...

It was incredibly rude of that doctor to do that to you!

How is your sleeping since starting the enema? I know it can be a struggle for some people to keep it in all through the night and it can reduce the amount of sleep they get.

Whenever I have to take the additional enema as well I always place a towels on the bed matress as well as keeping my underwear on with folded up tissue paper inside just in case I do have an accident during the night.

My bp has been low as well. I suspect the steroids. I haven't gotten a good answer yet. It is also related to weight loss which I've had. Hope you get an answer.
