pred dose

I am Uceris for few weeks. I still see watery stool, little blood, 4-5 bm. Dr says pred at 60mg. Is not that high dose?

For the year before my J-pouch surgery the only thing that would give me relief was 60 mg pred (and I am 5'8" female weighing 115 at the time!). Every time I tapered though, symptoms returned...I had become pred dependent. All earlier flares were brought under control with 40 mg of pred & very slow taper. I was fortunate to not really have any side effects from the pred (except sleeping issues!). Did try Uceris once and it didn't do a thing for me!

What kind of taper schedule did your dr give you? Sometimes they want to jump start things with 60mg for a few days and then start tapering. If you are concerned about the dosage, best bet is to talk with your dr. He might be going that high since you didn't respond to Uceris. While 60mg is high, it's not unheard of and I have even heard of some people on higher doses.
