How long does it take you to get back to 'normal' after pred?

I was on pred for about 5 months including a week of IV steroids. They eventually gave me remicade which has put me into remission.

I came off pred 8 week ago today exactly. While in general things are going well but I am still feeling like I am experiencing some withdrawal symptoms from the pred. It is effecting my sleep, particularly getting to sleep at night.

So I wondering how long have others taken to get back to 'normal' when they come off pred so they no longer feel as if they are experiencing withdrawal symptoms?

I was on it for 10 weeks and I've been off it for 9 weeks now. I feel okay overall, but the acne is still awful. I think it can generally take up to 4-6 months to return to normal.

Its frustrating because there is not much I can do, it's just a waiting game.

It took me about a year to feel 'normal', but my recovery was complicated by oxycodone withdrawal symptoms as well, plus I'd had surgery and had been on pred for longer than you had. It varies, but unless you were on 40-60mg for 5 months straight, I doubt it will take you much longer now - maybe one or two more months?

I hope so - that's the thing, I've been on pred a few times before so I understand what it feels like coming off it. Its just a few lingering symptoms that are slowly fading away - I just wish it would happen faster!!

The adrenal fatigue induced by the corticosteroids left me unable to walk, incredibly weakened, and with pain throughout my entire body (pseudo-rheumatism.)

All of this is common with Prednisone withdrawal, but I kept waiting to get better, for the pain to subside, but it never did... It's been 3 years now. My adrenal glands are now functioning normally, but I still have intense fatigue and pain. Apparently, there is a percentage of people for whom Prednisone induces Fibromyalgia?? My God, if only I'd know! I would have just lived with the internal bleeding!! I'm totally incapacitated. And still so young. :(

For me, 90% of symptoms of gone within half the time I was on the prednisone. So if I was on it for 6 months, I'm mostly better 3 months after that. The fatigue and hair loss last a lot longer.
