Hey all,
Sort of a weird topic. I'm curious if anyone else has experienced an uptick in symptoms after using a particular soap, body wash, or shampoo/conditioner product. I've recently switched shampoos to something more natural (to hopefully help with thinning hair) and since then have experienced some more pain in the my lower left colon area. The pain was all but gone before the switch and now I saw a little blood today. I haven't changed anything else in my routine. It may just be a false correlation that I am connecting to causing things, but the coincidence is strange . Maybe my immune system just can't handle the ingredients or something. Does anyone else have experience with specific soaps and things that they have to avoid or cause issues?

Nope, but my skin gets more sensitive when my colitis is flaring.

Nope, I'd call this coincidental/unrelated.

Yeah, I think this is just unrelated. Now I feel like a weirdo for even asking. Thanks for responding and helping out.

No worries, strange reactions do occur with some things. Can't hurt to ask

I think if you thought that "no way in hell can this be related", then in my opinion, that would make you a weirdo !
Our body is not like a car >If the handle broke while I was rolling down my window, then the car suddenly died, THAT would be 100% coincidence.
Every cell in our body is alive and connected to every other cell.

I would look at the ingredients on the bottle. Some natural ingredients can cause problems, some can even enter through the skin and migrate to other areas. "Natural" is not always non-allergenic to all people. Lots of natural things cause problems and you may one of a small group that has symptoms from one of the ingredients.
So use a different shampoo.

imagardener - I'm not sure which ingredients I may be allergic to on the bottle but I have had issues with other natural shampoos in the past. Like brain fog and other things. I may have to go back to just using standard stuff chemical I guess. Stopped using the shampoo a day ago and my symptoms have already almost reduced back to normal. Blood isn't showing up anymore. Pretty weird if it truly was a reaction to a something. I didn't think about
the ingredients migrating to other areas of the body at all. Dang. Why can't I just use shampoo? Just one more weird thing this disease does to add to the list. Thanks for your input.
