Just figured i would update for anyone that was following my long and exhausting journey.
As you know I had the surgery, I'm home now and it's been about
3 weeks post op. I feel good, I have a few restrictions with food that they want me to follow for the first few weeks but it's nothing major. I can eat pretty much whatever I want with no bathroom runs, no pains. I can sleep through the night now, lay on my side too which is pretty exciting lol. A little maintenance with the stoma and having the bag but nothing overwhelming. Only issues I'm having are pre op problems that I've been dealing with for a while such as severe joint pain, fatigue, my weight loss, increased heart rate and I'm still anemic. If those things weren't issues right now I would be leaving the house and out enjoying life. I'm still a bit away from that but I can comfortably relax at home for the time being until I get my strength and energy back. Much better condition than prior to the surgery. I'm excited to complete the rest of the steps and get my life back on track. Thanks for your support and for following

Glad to hear you've improved since your surgery. Here's hoping the remaining issues also clear up very soon

I'm glad you're doing ok. Maybe some iron infusions would help you to get your energy back?

Glad to hear you're doing well! Those other issues should normalize as you recover and regain strength.

Joint pain can be from lots of reasons; I had really bad joint pain from predisone withdrawal. That was the worst part for me after my colectomy.
Make sure you are eating enough protein, I know that it can be challenging to eat enough only a few weeks out from surgery. Your body needs protein to heal. You also need enough calories for energy. Once you get your appetite back then your weight will come back too.
I think you are making great progress for only being 3 weeks out of surgery. The colectomy can be the most difficult to recover from because we are the sickest at that point going into the surgery.
